Hey guys! Well I'm thinking about switching from ProMix to Roots Organics Original. A good friend of mine is turning out some very impressive ladies with Roots soil and he swears it's all the soil. I love my ProMix but I'm definitely considering switching it up but I'd like to see some other opinions on Roots Organic Original Soil. Anyone have any experience with it??

I've n ever used roots but all I've herd is good reports.Check our organic soil and fert thread and there might be some reviews on it.

Im using it now i like it alot not hot at all im dumping my ffof and only gonna use this from now on.

Ingredients: Coco fiber, peat moss, perlite, pumice, premium worm castings, bat guano, kelp, fish bone meal, soy bean meal, feather meal, greensand, leonardite and alfalfa meal.

With the castings and guano it can be a bit too hot for seedlings, so you may want to keep some Pro Mix around to start your plants in.

I have used both the original and the 707. It is good by both accounts.

It tends to lend a more floral smell to the buds, As opposed to a fruity odor. The taste seems to remain the same though.

Just my observation.

Thanks a ton guys!! This has definitely made my decision much easier!! By they way Muddy, I was planning on using the promix for the babies, maybe a top layer of 2-3 inches on top of the roots.

Hey eekman, what do you think of the 707? I've thought about using it instead.

I used to prefer roots because imo it gave a bettwr taste/smell but after some trial and error I now get the better results with promix that I ammend myself. Roota is good though just expenaive imo. 707 worked well for me also, I didnt really see a difference

I went from sunshine mix advanced #4 to roots organic original. I love roots organic original and do use it for seedlings all the way through veg. I only add dolomite lime, and a small bit of epsom salt. but thats all i use for complete veg cycle. I only added the epsom salt as I use reverse osmosis water and needed the magnesium for some strains.

My flower formula now thats another story. but I still use sunshine advanced #4 as a base.

When I used it, it was supposed to be that you didin't need to add anything throughout the whole grow.

But I ended up needing Bloom nutes, and Cal Mag (because of LED's?) Outdoors might get different results I would imaging.

I always think they need to be bigger, lol.

I just helped someone recently who was using the 707 and they also had issues with it being too hot for their seedlings.
