Grow Mediums Organic coco grows

I'll be sorta finding out if it's possible soon lol. This last round I did a few 50% coco with organic soil, and they did do a little better than the organic soil only ones. I'll be trying maybe 80% next with KindSoil at the bottom (it's organic). Theoretically, as long as the pH is kept in check, and as long as the organic nutrients don't spoil (called going anaerobic, snd it's very bad, and very smelly), then it should be possible.

One of my mentors @Eyes on Fire might have some input too.

I talk to him all the time here as of late. Hes very knowledgeable. I think he told me a pure coco grow while trying to do organic only grows isnt a good idea. Apparently organic soil supports life better.

But you say your 50% coco 50% organic soil did better than just 100% organic soil growing organically?

Im going to be growing using earth juices three part line up of grow bloom and micro. And i want to use 100% coco by general hydroponics with perlite. And brew my own teas.

Do you ever ph your teas?just curious.

You should definitely do a grow journal on here with your organic coco grow. As we all know coco is better than soil in many ways but if growing in it organically is its Achilles heal then ill stick with soil to avoid nasty chemicals

Yeah I'm playing around with it to see if there's a balance where a person can get some of the benefits of coco and still use just organic feeding. 50/50 did okay, although I'm having a pH collapse in one of the photoperiods in 50/50 right now, but I don't think it related to coco... I think it's me being crappy with photoperiods lol. The autos loved it!

Like Eyes on Fire is always preaching, I'm really hung up on maintaining soil life, and I'm not entirely confident 100% coco can do that. 80/20 might be able to support beneficial life, so I'm gonna try and find out. :) Actually my next round is going to be like about 75% coco, 20% soil, 5% organic ammendments (the usual stuff like Greensand, azomite, and all that).

For teas I don't pH although I probably should... In fact I don't worry about pH at all when it's been 100% organic soil. But now with including more coco, I'll have to start watching pH of everything.

yeah man, there is a bit of binding issue there as a simple rule of thumb to use.Ive mentioned this when several ppl moved to TLO/organics and so on within the coco relm.there is a pretty fair misunderstanding when it come to full coco organics.coco as ya know its all about PH.low PH too boot lol but when its organic bottles for feeding in pretty much any medium holds true.PH and def. happen a little more regular than other mediums. to add life to coco cant be done well.you can add ALL ya want all day long but solely coco it will not adhere to.now once its been used say five six and ten times rotated out and through grows it gets finer and puffy also,so absorbing more moisture and life.but with solely coco you would want to add say pieces of chip brick, pumice stone...really anything light and porous similar to either perlite or busted up smaller pieced coco coir chip brick to hold the life.sall it a binding agent if you will.since thats exactly what your doing.most of the life will wash out ansd it would get mighty expensive to always buy wettable powders in various forms or always tilling you top coat to puch yet more and more webbing into the mix but with the organic bottle types feeds and coco it will not support the type of life for long.very short amount of time.

now take TLO and coco mixes.Ive always maintained that with no less than a 25-30% soil and upwards of 70% broken down coco and literally re moistened WITH a bangin full of life tea and once soil and coco base with what have ya is mixed yto remoisten with another tea is ideal imo.and ofcourse more amendments would be added but the initial binding agents with the soil ie:soil iteslef, perlite and chip brick(s) pieces again broken down in thirds or more. the life and nutrients are allowed to use the binders to adhere to and build upon..but with that know the less binding agents and materials there are to use and cling too,the less life and organic matter there is to maintain the e ultimately perfect balance OF a true organic medium thats alive.

All the right points there! Hmmm.. This has me thinking more about the importance of the coco preparation. I did foresee pH and more potential lockups trying to juggle organic with majority coco.

I'm kinda thinking that it'd be wayyyy less headache if yer going to do full coco to just do chem nutes and babysit the pH full time.

Think I'm still going to try and go for about 70% coco next, with mucho mucho organic ammendments and life stuffed in the remainder soil. Maybe that's just about limit one could use coco with organics without gigantic headache and hustle.

oh yeah man totally doable imo its just for me and many others I dont wanna work my butt off anymore LOL ever to grow. but if your involved and daily you look and see and each week or more you brew a tea.heck you might want two tea brewing stations with two separate types too.LOL man that'd be fun Im just not able to do that easliy with zero help these days.sooo.lol cant wait to check it out,im sure it'll look awesome. just dont make the soil part too hot.far less buffering going on. so easy but rich feeds would be best imo once life takes hold.

Ok ill cheat and add some earth juice brow bloom micro and w/e that one bottle with the vegetables is haha. The local grow store dude said adding some herculan harvest by nectar for the gods would complete w/e the teas can come bloom time. Then again mabey he was just trying to make a sale...
