im going to grow on power lines in the woods i was planning on just starting plants out at spot i live in northeast so im not starting till mid june.. how do i protect my plants from bugs?? maybe homemade remidies for bugs , protecting from animals. etc?
need to know some things about growing outdoors..
any help is appreciated i have a creek with fresh water running right next to spot and alot of brush. its kind of in open but theres only one person that would go back there and i dont think they would be looking for weed old hunter guy that lives out there..
so should be good from intruders just dont nknow how to keep animals and buggs away from plants

I considered growing under some power lines too but the power company mowes under there or they spray something to keep the trees from growing either way I would look for somewhere other then power lines unless they have recently been abandoned. But maybe I'm just paranoid. Human hair and dog hair should keep most animals away, I'm gonna try copper AND crabshell for the slugs. I'm trying a few Swamp grows this summer so I really need to keep the slugs away. I'm also going to string up fishing line around my plants to hopefully keep the moose away they say it works for deer I hope it works for moose too.

Egg shells will keep slugs away. Marigolds will keep a lot of pests away, grown in your yard, then spread around your plants and grind them into the soil near them. You can get a little sprayer and buy some Azadactrin. Or Neem oil. Keeping deer away is going to be your biggest challange. Get some product that has Large Cat Piss in it, I think Panther Piss was the name a few years back that did quite well.

The more isolated your plants are from other like vegetation (i.e. soft green leafy plants), they will be better off, IMO.

Consider Bifen IT, it has a fairly long residual life and will kill just about any insect that comes in contact with it. I use a sprayer and spray my plants and the area around them when they are young, once the plants are decent sized, I just spray the area around them. I havent had any insect problems once my plants start to flower, so I quit spraying entirely at that time.

the power lines look like they been recently cut actually so i think it should be fine there doesnt look like anyreason to worry about that its all cleared... my girl gots cats im gonna bring a bag of liter lol and put it all around plants i guess i was thinking about using human hair dont have a dog.. i just need sumthing for misqutios

I'm just starting an outdoor grow as well and I am using coyote urine to keep the rabbits and deer away and just bought some sevin dust for any bugs that are thinking about munching on my ladies. Picked up the sevin dust at a home depot went to my local gardening center for the coyote urine.

Mind you this was a long time ago. But in central Massachusetts during the 80s I used to grow ganja at the edge of a marsh. It was VERY guerrilla. I'd start plants in 5 gallon buckets and then when they were about a foot high, off they went to the edge of the marsh, nested in the branches of a big ass tree that had fallen a few years earlier.

In the fall, when the choppers were starting to do infra-red ganja spotting we'd run to the marsh and chop them down.

I never touched them and did this for many years till I sold the place. Of course that was way before auto's so IDK if this would ever work. But the theory about the edge of the marsh being a great place to grow proved to be right..
