Outdoor Outdoor planting/Germinating

Hi Keep,

I grew my first auto's outside last summer. Started them indoors in peat pellets then put the peat ball into 4" pots once they got a few sets of leaves. I started to acclimate them to outside after about 3 weeks by moving them outside in the morning into shade for a few days and then started to allow them to get increasing amounts of sun.

I prepared their final location outside the same time I started the seeds with a mix of Promix, compost, topsoil, limestone and rock phosphate. The holes were about the size of a 5 gal bucket.

When I put them in the prepared spots I made sure they were well watered so the soil would hold together and carefully cut the pots down the side to avoid any disturbance to the roots. Filled in around the root balls with loose soil and then watered gently to make sure there were no air pockets.

The plants never missed a beat.

Good luck, I will be following along.

When I put them in their final place

Any plans on soil ammendment for you or just planting in native? I was thinking of adding very basic stuff like kelp, rock dust, EWC and promix in each spot and mix up the native soil with it, only about 3 gal per location than let the roots gather native nutrients once they surpass my mix area. My theory is to give them a lil boost in the beginning than let momma nature taker course, sik logo to man

Gonna try to amend as many plots as I can afford. Theres a local company here that sells natural peat from here, Sungro. Gonna grab up some direct from them at a very great cost. Got my dog collecting deer antelers when I walk him that I powder up with some crayfish and Mussel shells. Bit of a pain in the ass to powder all that stuff up but for free why not. Works pretty damn good with my indoor garden. Planting some in the Natural soil in some of the plots that I have scouted last year that looks pretty lush with deep good soil. Gonna use Advanced Nutrient Jungle juice with microbes and mollasses. Got the plan hope it all comes together. K.I.M.

Thanks oldster, I was just worried about stunting my auto's when I send them out. Just gonna run with it and see what happens. I also am going to put 10 or so in 3 gal grow bags buried in the ground with slits cut into the bottom and sides just in case. K.I.M.

Good Luck,

We start a lot of are garden plants inside and I have found that slowly acclimating them to the outside is the most critical item to avoid stress and stunting

That's sweet your dogs helping you gather nutrients! Mans best friend, that's for sure. Now if he/she can just help you powder that shit up lol

I may copy your styles but go with dry powdered egg shells and banana peels instead, I'll also take a look into that AN Jungle Juice.

I ran into this Organic Nutrient List from DIRT in the organic section, pretty amazing summary of everyday items you can use
