Over watering?

Overwatering is too frequently, yes. I like to water when my finger comes out dry. 2-3x a week at most. Pot size and medium will affect how often you water also.

Some people do daily waterings of small quantities but that's all just too complicated for me.

I also use a perlite bed though, catches runoff water and it's filled by a dehumidifier drain. The soil will wick the water up and the plants stay at the right moisture level. I believe most people like a system like this for going away on vacation and not worrying about watering. I like it because it's low maintenance. As long as the perlite bed has water the plants are good, and I just do weekly feedings now.

I dont quite get the finger method, what about the rest of the pot below? Does it dry out upwards? :D

Yes I like to keep it as simple as possible to. Your setup looks ballin' though. Did you make the smartpots yourself to? These airpots are expensive man, I bet those smartpots do just as fine..

It's pretty easy. I peek on my plants every day usually, maybe open the tent a couple times a week, and I do my feedings/watering on Monday mornings.

Those are my new diy smart pot. That's Dewitt weed barrier pro landscape fabric. Sewn with nylon thread with a medium zig zag stitch. Made as a basic square pot(it tends to plump out a bit but works well. 8"x8" and 16" tall. I'm actually only using like 14", folded the lip over, and it holds right at 4 gallons of soil. ~4.5 if I filled it the full height.

The goal was to maximize use of space. I don't grow monster plants, and I have to train them out a bit to make use of a full sq ft of space each(current size of 5gal smart pots(12inch diameter)). Overall I can now fit 21 pots where before was only 8. Pot size only drops from 5 to 4 gallons and it's only 2-3inches taller. Drainage is looking the same but the material is more plastic feeling than smart pots. Not bad since a 3 x 50 foot roll was $20. Should make 35-40pots depending on how wasteful I am lol.

Sewing machine is needed, that's the downside. The mother in law was kind enough to loan me a reliable old brother. An hour of reading online and YouTube and I now know how to use a sewing machine lol.
