I’ve been contemplating moving from GroBuckets to DWC but decided against it. I’m not confident I could keep the water temperature in range in my garage. I do like the SIP/ organic soil approach. So, based on @WildBill ‘s recommendation I bought a Earthbox Jr.. WB was kind enough to share his recipe for a successful grow with me. As of day 21, I’ve followed his plan closely and the plant looks great. My tent is 2.3x2.3. In the past I’ve grown four plants in the tent by staggering the start dates. It was a little unrealistic and hard to manage. For this grow I’m doing one plant. Perhaps, I’ll start a second EBJr. ,stay tuned. The seed is a Cali Connections Deadhead OG.
My organic soil with a top layer of compost, Build a Soil veg and earthworm castings. Moistened with compost tea.
Opps, should have cut an X in the cover
Day 14: added 8 oz water to wet the wicking areas.
First watering today. One half gallon water with my homemade LABS (I’ll just call it EM1 henceforth). Humidity set to 75%, DLI 25, temp 75F. The garage temp can go into the 90’s on hot days. I’ll be insulating the garage to help keep the temps lower.
I won’t be topping this one. I’d like to try SCROG if it’s big enough. For now , Ive bent the top over to curtail the apical dominance.
Well so far, I’m impressed with the progress. It surprised me how well the plant looks with so little water. I think the cover is essential to the EBJr. Stay tuned for updates. Thanks again WBill, your advice has been invaluable!
