perlite in fabric pots?

I've only ever grown in fabric pots, and my mediums were always amended with a good 20-30% perlite by volume. I currently use Pro-Mix HP which is a peat moss medium that contains around 30% perlite already, so I didn't add any extra. I guess it depends how much is already in it, and whether you want more or not. But for me, 20-30% perlite with the rest being non-perlite is a ratio that has worked well. I like seeing lots and lots of white in my mixes :headbang:

I did around 20-30% last grow in plastic, I was not sure if that ratio changes with fabric pots. TY for the feedback.

I grow in soil and add 30%, plastic or fabric. I like a nice light, fluffy well draining medium. This works for me. Roots in saturated medium do not make for a zero defect grow.

Organic soil auto grower.

I used `~40% perlite in my coco grow, and likely 30+% in my peat based grows, all in fabric, all in either Autopots or diy SIPs. Too much is unlikely to do harm, not enough might cause roots to stay too wet. The one downside, I think, is that in a water only grow, excess perlite might use up pot volume that would be better occupied by soil with microbes in it, especially if pots are on the small side for a water only grow. Others here use straight coco without perlite successfully, and I believe that @pop22 has used straight soil with little or no perlite in it in some of his autopot grows. In my next grow this winter, my soil mix will be ~25% aeration, half perlite, half vermiculite. I am including perlite just to use up what I have on hand. I would otherwise have gone with just vermiculite as suggested by Dr. Bruce Bugbee in one of his cannabis growing videos.
