Pete's Backyard runs and funs

Hoy Stinky and @dankstyle J After seeing your garden Stinky , I recon ya can do what I do . Build your soil outside on the ground , I work on the soil for 2 months [ only because it takes so long adding the stuff I use] I start with the slow break down things first , , compost , bat guano , cow manure , egg shell powder , and what ever else I can get my hands on . That done I will not take much notice of the soil ph . Then I start feeding the soil , [ worm tea - seaweed - home made fish hydro - ect ] So being in direct contact with the ground I am already introducing microbes , This is about at the 2 month mark , again don't worry about the -- p h --
Now worm farm , Take a bunch of worms , lets say 10 cups in 200 ltr . Give them 2 weeks and see if you can find the , if not you have to rework you soil , Because the worm will be your best indicator. Its like @#$% you man I'm out of here this place it sucks ,or -- Hay Hecno , when is the next party
Think Like A Worm . A happy worm is happy soil . In my next soil I have around 10 ltr of the little buggers wiggling around so far . Now here is a secrate bit of info . If you see little worms in you soil , you will know they have most likely come up from the ground witch means ya on the right track . So by this stage you are at 3 months or there abouts . Uooops I forgot , Still feed the soil ,along the way . Simple , Lacto - Worm tea - So we move on , I start to use the top of the soil as a mini compost pile to feed the worms , I just bung in some - coffee grounds - chopped bananas storks - soaked cardboard - and other stuff , -- again don't worry about - Ph - it is not a issue -
Now we are at the stage of just keeping the worms and microbes happy , So the only disturbance to the soil stops at 3 months , no more mixing , the next 2 months are to not destabilize the soil . I keep feeding the Microbes and Fungi , plus the worms , -- and again , don't worry about the Ph , because by now your soil is in balance , ---- Which brings me to your Fertilizer teas . It is not so much about the - NPK - you are looking for but the enzymes and microbes , With your soil in balance the is no need to add extra nutrients as it is already in the soil for the plant to take as it needs it . --- Now mate I have to say this , All of the above is only my way of thinking , I may be way wrong here . This is only what I have seen :vibe:

Great stuff going on hecno

Well it seems a bit harder than I thought to get the veggies I was looking for to do do my 1st bloom fertilizer. Something I went back to the drawing board (google) and started do more homework.

Tomorrow I will be gerig the following veggies instead.

Garlic - 153mg per 100g

Pumpkin - 44mg per 100g

Avo - 55mg (Gonna keep that)

Banana 28mg (also gonna keep it)

I want to stay with the 3 fruits/vegetables. Hopefully adding the garlic and coconut milk in moderation will help to boost the Phosphorous content.

I will be using brown sugar. Wanted to use Molasses but could not get any.

I also collected egg shells but not yet enough for my CalPhos. I wanted to start the Lactobacillus Serum to but we are in winter now so it has to wait.

As soon as I have all my stuff I'll start posting pics.

What a find !!!

Got myself 25kg of Horse Manure mixed with straw and a quarter black bag full of fresh horse poo for only a joint. So I made 2 and we puffed, shared stories and had a good time. Not to bad payment I'd say.

Off to the compost pile for me.

So here is what I did so far .....

I got myself 2 x 250L pots and lined the bottom 1/4 way with sticks and then started with a layer of chopped leaves followed by a layer each of semi aged straw/horse manure and fresh horse manure. I watered it down and then I watered it with Homemade Kelp tea. I also added 2 hands of Red Wrigglers to each pot just cause I can and cause I had way to many on my hands.

I'm gonna leave that as is for the time bein and let nature do her thing. As soon as my Lactobacillus Serum en BIM is ready, then I want to introduce that to the pots.

Bloom Fertilizer take 1.

So I went to the shop today and picked up some fruit and a few extras.

The list is as follows:

1 x Papaya
1 x Apple
2 x Bananas
2 x Clover of Garlic
5 x Small avos
1 x Brown Sugar
1 x 10L plastic tub

I placed all my fruit into the tub and started smashing them up. When it was almost pulverised I added the brown sugar and kept on a bit longer. I left the peels on the fruit as well just for that extra goodness. When it was all mashed up it looked like this.

Seeing that we are in winter and temps go down to between 2 and 5 degrees at night I placed the tub in the indoor cab on the bottom shelf away from direct light. The temps in there is between 25 and 30. I placed a thermostat next to the tub to measure the temp. Will let you know tomorrow what the precise temp is.

The fruits Phosphorous and Potassium and Calcium content is the following:

Avocado per 100g

Phosphorus - 52 mg
Potassium - 485 mg
Calcium - 12 mg

Banana per 100g

Phosphorus - 22 mg
Potassium - 358 mg
Calcium - 5 mg

Papaya per 100g

Phosphorus - 10 mg
Potassium - 182 mg
Calcium - 20 mg

I added 1 x Apple and 2 x Clover of Garlic for extra goodness.

Apple

Phosphorous - 10 mg
Potassium - 118 mg
Calcium - 6 mg

Garlic per 100g

Phosphorous - 153 mg
Potassium - 401 mg
Calcium - 181 mg

It all smells like a giant fruit cocktail. I will let you know what's happening as it happening.

Thanx Henco.

Really happy about this and feeling good about the outcome. It feels so much better to make your own fertiliser than paying for something I know was not made with love.

Looking forward to finishing and using it.

Tomorrow will be day 7 and I'm not to sure what to say ......yet.

Some mold started to appear and I just mixed that back in. That might be due to the white bucket I used. I will use a black one next time. I'm leaving it until day 10 and then I will continue with the steps. Afterwards I'll have to check if it was a success or not. Hope it all works out but time will tell.

Hi Stinky . First up , if you want to stop mold you can do what I do , use a home brew bubbler -- photo -- I have to use it because of all the bugs in the tropics and it will also help to let you know when it is done as the will be now more bubbles , but when they stop open it and give it another stir and close it up again . I allow 4 weeks till there is no more activity . By then you should have a fair bit of liquid , if it is a mushy mess still , it means you have not added enough sugar . I am not sure if it is a good idea to add Lacto . It is only the enzymes you are after . For Flower enzyme tea I used -- flowers -- 1 is from a number of different flowers from around the yard and the other is from banana flowers , I am not worried about the N.P.K just the flower enzymes and I use it once a week . If I remember right it is very cold where you are now , so in your spring when everything is flowering gather a mix of flowers and try that . I made the banana flower tea because it is such a big bloody flower there must be some good enzymes in it , -- well that's my theory anyway  --
