Just bought a pH pen/tester and tested the tap water.......8.3.....quite high I thought.....

Anyone tell me what can I use to get it down? Do I have to buy the 'pH down' stuff or is there another way?

With nutes in and stood for about 12 hours it was 7.4. But if I leave it to stand the oxygen will be lost, no?

I'm not buying a pump.

Adding nutes will usually lower it some, but having some pH down on hand will probably be necessary with water like that. Mine is almost identical with ~8.5 out of the tap and ~7.5 after being bubbled for 24 hours. You can use vinegar also, but it took a whole lot to lower my pH so getting dedicated pH down was more cost effective. Remember that the synthetic stuff will kill your microherd, so only use the organic variety if that's how you grow. I use the Earth Juice up/down and they work fine.

Cheer as bro. What's a microherd?

Using Plagon nutes. The pH down the shop sells is in a clear bottle about the size of a eyedrop bottle and 'pH down' written on it lol

The microherd are the beneficial bacteria and fungi in your soil. :peace:

Basically if you're growing organic then you're feeding the microscopic creatures in the soil and they break down the nutes & feed the roots. Synthetic up/down will kill those little guys and defeat the whole process. I'm not familiar with Plagon nutes but looks like they are organic so you should seek out some organic pH adjuster. I'm sure the people at the shop could point you in the right direction. Some people growing organic never mess with pH and do just fine, but mine is off by so much that if I don't adjust I get serious lockout issues.
