Tested my water today and it has a PH of around 7.2, which i guess is too high. Whats the most common method to lower it, to the ideal range?

At first Hello! :)
Yes its to high. Ideal is around 6-6.5. I use lime juice. Take carefull, a few drops enought for 1 L water to change the PH.
If the PH is low, I have always 24hour stand tap water. In my town its around 8...
So PH down: lemon juice.
PH up: 24h stale tap water. (stale, because may bad things in the water example: chlorine. It evaporate around 24 hour.)

When you say lemon and lime juice are meaning fresh or bottled? Also the ph up and down sold in the aquarium stores, are they good to use?

I think its the same what you can buy n a grownshop. Many manufacturer have PH up&PH down mixture.
I just want to advice to you a quick, and low budget solution.
I think fresh or bottled is all the same. I use bottled.

I have bin using white vinegar too bring my ph down and sodium bicarb to bring it up. I highly suggest chucking the water thou if you accidentally put too much vinegar in and starting again.

ouch ph is 8.5 straight from tap

I guess I found out why my sprouts take it hard. What do I need for 8.5 a few drops of sulfuric

Wtf 8.5??? Sulfuric acid??? Dunno what that would do!!
white vinegar and a tester should do the trick...

That was a ha ha. Lime juice in hand , tester is new.good thing I found one never knew p.h. and have shitty sprouting luck
Figures.
