What kind of PH up do you kind people use and recommend?
Are there different kinds for veg and flower times?

Whats best?
What to avoid?

The most common is ph up by General Organics or you can use baking soda.

pH Up and Down are the same for veg and bloom. The General Hydroponics is the most common one used but there are others that work just as well.

I think there is a good argument for a KOH based formulation with flowering nutrients, rather than a sodium based one. Alternatively, if you need to add Ca and/or Mg why not use one based on those metals, not sure if it would be commercially available as a "nutrient", but if it came to it you could probably make some yourself from limestone.

Like many other growers here, I've used Nitric PH down for the entire grow and Phosphoric PH Down for the entire grow (on separate grows) - with no issues.

It may well be a marketing ploy, but Canna produce 2 PH Down bottles - One for grow and one for bloom. The Nitric is for grow and the phosporic is (apparently) for bloom.

heres what they say

Canna PH Down is an acidic solution that is used to lower the PH value of your nutrient solution.

Canna PH Down-Grow contains 38% nitric acid and it is used for the vegetative stage with nutrients that contain high amounts of nitrogen.

Canna PH Down-Bloom contains 59% phosphoric acid and it is used during the flowering stage with nutrients that contain high amounts of phosphorus and potassium.

Just info really - Think i'm happy sticking to the one bottle of acid :)

Thanks to everyone for a rapid set of quality replies

Blue, the difference is that they could affect the nutrient levels, so the "correct" type simply matches with the major nutrients at that stage of the grow, more nitrate (N) during growth, more phosphate (P) and potassium (K) during flower. I doubt that many would be adding enough to affect nutrient levels significantly though.
