New Grower Pineapple Express First Grow newby

Hi guys and girls

After travelling the world and seeing the kind of quality smoke there is to offer and then coming home and smoking the dirt bush that is supplied where i live, I've decided its time to grow my own quality herb.

On order I have,
3 x Dutch Passion Hollands Hope
2 x Pineapple Express Auto Flowering Cannabis Seeds (Barney's Farm Seeds)
2 x Tahoe OG Kush Female Cannabis Seeds (Cali Connection Seeds)
2 x Jamaican Me Crazy Feminised Seeds (Cali Connection Seeds)
2 x Auto White Widow - Feminised Cannabis Seeds (Vision Seeds)
2 x Auto Sweet Cheese Feminised Cannabis Seeds (Sweet Seeds)
+10 quality unkown freebie seeds

I will be guerilla growing the majority of these outdoors in soil but......
I'd like to grow the pineapple express auto in a small grow box as it is said by the breeder to reach 40-50cm in height. The box itself is 92cm high, 36cm wide and roughly 74cm deep.

What is going through my mind at the moment is,

Soil or hydroponics?
LED or cfls ( leaning towards led as it gets very hot where i live.. looking at the Cidly Apollo range)

I'm unsure if my box is large enough?


Obviously being an auto flowering Forum I'm interested in any input you guys and girls with experience can pass down to me. I'm aiming to begin the grow in roughly 2 weeks time :jaw:

Greetings redey3d, nice selection of beans you have there mate! Best of luck with your grow. In regards to the Barney's farm pineapple express, i've grown them on two seperate occassions and true to the breeders description they stay short, The 2nd time i grew it i put it in a bigger pot and it actually grew smaller than my 1st one in the smaller pot! Due to the size they're not great yielders, but they're fast and what you'll end up with is some beautiful crystal covered bud with an amazing pineapple/ripe grapefruit/skunk taste and smell, i've only grown about 10 different auto's so far and in terms of taste and smell the pineapple express is still at the top of my list. You should be fine with them in your grow box mate

if your doing led with very little room between the light and plant perhaps get a light with 1w diodes

The yield isn't of too much concern for me as it will just be for my own personal use and I cant smoke most days, more of a weekend or day off kind of smoker.... If only I had a less demanding job!

Can I ask what lighting you used? I said earlier that i was leaning towards LED but after a bit of research around here and checking the prices I'm not sold on them due to the price. I might save them for when I get my new place and set up a decent little grow. Anyway I'm thinking maybe CFL 23-40w x 3 for the space i have and get the 'daylight' (6500k) colored bulbs for vege and (2700k) colored bulbs for flowering as they seem reasonably inexpensive.

Yo Red, i grow in a small DR60 II tent (60x60x160) i use a 250w mh light for veg and a 250w HPS dual spec for flower (although sometimes i just use the dual spec from start to finish) You should be ok with the cfls you mention, i use 2 or 3 small cfl's as supplemental lighting for dark spots in my tent. I'm growing a psychofruit outdoors at the moment more of a fun experiment than anything else, with the tempremental UK weather i relied on a single 60w cfl (2700k) to start it off as a seedling as it did nothing but rain at the start, i kept having to bring her indoors and clip the cfl to the edge of the terracotta pot just to give it some light, and it worked enough to develop the 1s few sets of leaves before thankfully the sun made an appearance and she could go outside again. So yeah with the pineapple's being small plants you should be right with the cfl's ( and you've got it right in terms of 6500k for veg and 2700k for flowering, i only used the the 2700k for veg as an emergency stop gap!) If you don't think it's getting enough light with the cfl's you can always add more plus you shouldn't get any serious temp problems with those bulbs, just don't expect the plants be monsters under small cfl's!

PE is a strain im contemplating for my medical grow, a friend showed me his grow - 2 Northern Lights, a Thai HAze and 4 Pineapple Express (though he thinks one is actually a chunk).

I decided to go for CFL after comparing LED's (esp. the BS 130W UFO and the 006 grow model as well) and also deciding the amount of equpment for an HID was ridiculous.

The tip I kept hearing was to get 1 Phillips 80w hydro bulb (its like AU$50 so cheap) and add a few multi spectrum/ 1 UVB bulb. The grows are large and well worth the cost IMO.

How nice is pineapple express? Im told yield is low, but its really effect im after - also any experience with chunk.

So guys I've found this as a vege light,

I was thinking I'd just buy a 2700k bulb to fit in the socket once flowering begins and that would be my lighting sorted.

As for fans I think I'm going to run 2 120mm computer fans for intake (with speed settings on low) and a third outake fan (on high setting) with a homemade carbon scrubber. My stealth grow is right next to a large door so good air supply is readily available.

As for reflection what would you reccomend off of this site? , http://glandorehydro.com/Panda-Mesh-Mylar.html

That light and reflector looks a nice little bit of kit there redey3d, i'd go for that. but also have a look around your local hardware store to see if you can find some clip on sockets so you can add more bulbs if needed? The spec on the bulb and reflector says its equivalent to a 250w HID so you should be good to go with that. As for reflective material either the mylar or the diamond reflective stuff will do the job, most grow tents are made with a mylar lining the diamond stuff is just a slightly more expensive option, either is good mate

Hi Duppy, the pineapple express is a real good smoke mate, tasty as hell. Think ripe grapefruit, pineapple and strong skunk. It's a real tropical taste, i used to smile just opening the jar and getting a whiff of the stuff! The stone is a typical indica body stone but not so much that it knocks you out, I could smoke it in the day and just felt really relaxed and happy.
