New Grower Pollogrower - AK-48 - First solo grow

hey all,

I'm not too sure what to say here except this is my first solo grow. My lady and I grew once before and were a bit of research nuts...

So, the first (both of us, mostly her though) grow was a real learning experience. We grew 4 plants, 2 Blueberry Kush and 2 Bubblicious, all AFs. The tent is 4'x4', had a 400w HID enclosed hood with a charcoal filter.... aaand that was about it. No water pH, no real way to manage temps or humidity except the fan speed controller. All 4 plants turned out pretty good, smoked well and tasted good. All were pretty airy buds though.

On to my solo grow... (I'm a product of my father, his name is Major Overkill). I refitted the tent with (2) 600watt LEDS, A/C, heater, dehumidifier and humidifier. I whipped up an arduino climate control system that watches VPD, temps, humidity, leaf temps and controls it all. It can also do Negative DIF and CMP (cooler day temps than night).

So, I'm actually at the end of this grow (with pics) and wanted to share. I have 3 White Widows started and they'll be getting the full AFN journal experience.

Pretty amazing set up mate, and some quality plants you've grown there. Congrats dude

It seems we are approaching the growing thing from pretty much opposite ends of the spectrum, as I am whats known over here as a right old pikey with no money and no equipment!

Very cool to see so many different approaches on AFN, good luck with the new grow buddy

As an aside, I just took the Northern Lights (from this grow) out of drying and put into curing. Sadly, one NL didn't make it, but the other did. I got a couple pics of her. 1.01oz out of a very problematic grow, but she's strong(THC) and tastes good now, I can't wait to see what a couple weeks of curing will do for her.

hey buddy welcome to afn and well done on your first grow. nice result there : ) youll do well with your new lights. ive got a same size tent and same wattage and i still cant believe what its pulling. led is the way forward man. youve gotta work for the penetration but its worth it. i hope it all goes well for you mate. if you ever need anything while your here never be shy to ask. thats what were here for : ) sharing is caring brother keep it green

Yup, pollo is Spanish for chicken, though I'm very much Irish/German.

I harvested one of the AKs tonight. She was big and heavy, the top cola was almost falling over. She drying now. One more AK to go be fore switching back to veg with my baby white widows.

The lady tried the northern lights... hilarity ensued. It's 2-3 times stronger than the bubblicious from her grow. I lul'd mightily.

Well, failure to launch... all three white widow seeds sprouted, then died off. The possibilities are I overwatered or the fungus gnats got to them. More likely the former.

So, I'm germinating 3 more seeds after cleaning up tent. 2 white widow and a lemon OG, all AF from Nirvana.

That brings me to another question I had, does one start a new thread for each grow?
