Outdoor Poppaguttman's 2nd UK Guerilla grow

It does clump when I squeeze it. ........
Or how else can I get slow release nutrients so I don't have to add them every week which will make a trail and risk chance of being seen

It sounds as though you probably have a reasonable mix of sand, silt and clay. As you probably know it never does any harm to add some organic matter, although bulk could cause you problems getting much there. Knowing the soil pH might not be a bad idea if you can do it simply.

I think that Autopot, makers of a passive hydroponic type system, sell some kind of slow release organic fertilisers which go in the soil. They do it because organic nutrients can't be used in their reservoir systems as they clog the pipes. Another alternative might just be a scattering of chicken manure pellets every few weeks, maybe a couple of pockets full every visit. It sounds like simplicity needs to be the way forward.

perfect... this sounds like what i need. Ill have a look into the autopot fertilisers and definately use the chicken manure pellets. Thanks!

Watch out when using chicken, blood or fish ferts as mr badger may come along and dig up your plot!
Ive had an idea for this year but doesnt look like i can use it, it was for my gorse plot, which are the marzipan flower smelling spickey bushes in the photos you posted! If you dont want to disturb the area when watering get 20 meters of hose pipe and plumb it in to water your plants from a distance ( prefereably up hill - if thats possible?) I usually stash all my fert bottles near by, just give then a good shake and funnel it down the hose!

Found a new better spot today. Gonna dig 22 holes and fill them with compost and perlite mix. Is 200 litres with 100 litres of perlite mix ok? Also, I have bat guano... What's the best way to use it? I heard that I should spread it in the bottom of each hole or should I mix it in with the soil or could this cause the early seedlings to get nuteburn? Any advise would be helpful

thats the problem, its impossible to transport all that soil to fill in such a large plot. Im planning on using the soil that is already there which is nice and light and im sure will have some nutrients in. Ill have to compromise and mix in some kind of fertilised soil with what ive got and add a light nute feed later once the plants are a bit older. I had decent results using bio-bizz adding it a just under once a week. I know they could use more when they're in their prime but thats the only realistic amount of times i can visit. Im going on budget and how easy it is rather than what's best for them. Hopefully theres gonna be over 20 plants so its quantity over quality haha. Thanks for your help!

Why not take along some coco bricks to improve the soil. Easy to carry and reasonably priced, break half a brick or so into each hole.

Anyone know the best way to use the guano with seedlings? I was thinking I'm gonna mix it into some compost and put it at the bottom of the hole and put normal compost and perlite to fill the rest of the hole and a small bit of light soil on top of that. This is so the seedlings reach different strengths of soil in stages because I can't repot them or allow them to strengthen them indoors And I don't want the compost to burn them. After that I will add guano as topsoil every now and then once they can handle it. I will also use bio biZz nutrients closer to flowering. If anybody has any better methods using guano, compost and perlite let me know. Cheers

Planted all the seeds about a week ago and put home made propogators and slug pellets, all the think differents popped and 2 of the free photos. Went to visit them a few days after and all are doing very well except two of the think differents had what looked like stem rot and had flopped over. One was damaged beyond repair so replaced it with a photo and I propped the other one up although it looks like it was going to die. Oh well cant complain. Off to visit them this weekend to remove propogators and put up a fence. hopefully will have some pictures although its tricky to get any decent ones because of the location I have to go at night. Its been really good weather for the UK though so they should be coming along nicely!

went to visit on sunday and 8 have died! the bottom of the stems went brown and floppy... is seems to be happening to a few others as well. Can I treat the ones still alive? Ive read it may be because its too moist as the propogators have been steaming up because of the hot weather. could this be possible. Ive also been told it could be the compost im using...its westlands with added JI. Im pretty sure its not nuteburn tho because all the leaves are fine its just the stems. If anyone knows what this is i would much appreciate it... I have ordered more seeds to replace them and need to know if i should replace the soil/do something different so they dont die either
