hey guys have you found the bud to still be just as potent if a plant herms a bit and grows some bananas?

my buddy has a large strawberry cough photoperiod plant, when i was checking it out today i noticed some small bananas growing from some of the buds so we removed all the ones we could find.

its his first grow so he would like to finish them out, they are nice looking frosty plants and appear healthy the only issue was the small bananas found throughout some buds....

will the bud still be just as potent? hes not worried about pollen or anything since we removed them all hes just concerned it wont be as strong....i told him ive had a few throw some bananas and it still was good smoke but im curious about any experiences u guys had with this...thanks guys.

I've only had one plant w/ 'Gender Confusion' but after a quick gelding ... it was fine and the smoke was dank ... :tiphat:

Coming in late on this thread.

Bananas are just part of the inner male flower pushing through. Generally, from what have read and watched, bananas on photo strains are normal in a sense. Some strains produce them at end of flowering as a natural means of pollination--but, it is too late most of the time. One commenter I listened to said--at most could pollinate a few flowers just not likely late in flowering. If it shows early in flowering then there are likely other male flowers and those may be more viable along the nodes. I had bananas on a South Asian plant and another member did too--we planted about same time k miles apart. They were loaded on mine just at harvest time--as were his. In fact, found one on a photo was trimming a few days ago--sign of ripeness (that's my excuse). No seeds around it.

The real hermaphrodites don't wait around if genetic. That is the ones I have found early on. However, there are some all recognize as having a potential late hermie gene (have read about some strains carrying such via clones). My experience, indicates if stressed they will react with a male flower or if inclined will produce more.

Where the banana's whole flower is -- is is a mystery to me. Would be interesting to see a cross section photograph. The flower must be deep inside the bud.

You did a good job inspecting. A good lesson for all of us.

Cheers
