Live Stoner Chat PPM / EC Meter clarification

Hello,
Recently bought an “HM Digital COM-80” and I’m not sure if I’m reading it correctly.
I’m new to reading PPM’s and EC so want to make sure I’m understanding this properly.
This thing has a few different modes , and I’ve taken readings in each mode with the same tap water (refer to pictures).

Am I correct in having to read the PPM’s on the “.5” mode because it read “.5” in “mS” mode? Or...?

Also, why is the “uS” higher than the others?

Lastly, is the PPM’s number exactly what it says or is it divided in half if I’m in .5 mode, or is that number already in half?

EC stands for Electrical Conductivity, whose units we don't care about.
Most of us worry about ppm instead, and there are two different methods of getting it from EC.
In the US, EC is usually multiplied by 500 to get ppm.
In other places, 700 is often used.

I presume that if you want to read ppm based on the 500 scale, you'd pick the 0.5 setting, or the 0.7 setting for the 700 scale.
If I had your meter, I'd ignore all settings except for the settings shown in your 4th picture, which shows the meter reading on the 500 ppm scale.

EC is the most accurate way to read concentration levels of your nute mix.. I use the EC reading, which is the 2nd pic you posted. PPM, is a conversation of EC.. Not sure why you would need to convert the EC when you have the exact EC number.. Here is a copy/past from a quick google search. This is off of Dutch Pro Nutrients web site.. As well as an EC/PPM conversion chart. On the chart,
Hanna = .5ppm conversion setting (most common in the usa).. Euteech = .64pm conversion setting and Truncheon = .7ppm conversion setting.

"Electrical Conductivity (EC) is a measurement of the ability of something to conduct electricity. In horticulture, EC is used to determine nutrient strength because the dissolved solids (elements) essential for plant life, generally display the ability to conduct electricity in solution. By measuring the electrical conductivity (EC), rather than parts per million (ppm), you will see a more accurate measurement of nutrient strength. The units chosen to measure EC commonly are μS/cm2 (microsiemens) abbreviated as simply μS and also mS/cm2 (millisiemens) abbreviated as simply mS. Also.. You may want to look into calibrating that meter.. It looks to be a tad bit off when compared to the chart

Thanks , glad I I asked or I wouldn’t have realized. The manual lies when it says ready to use out of the box lol
