So I'm gonna start a micro grow.
It's gonna be on a cabinet that measures 40cms x 30cm x 80cm.

My setup is gonna be:

Cabinet size - 40cms x 30cm x 80cm
Light - CFL Agrolite 150w Dual Spectrum 20/4
Soil - Composana Universal, you guys might not know this one but it's used very often by growers from my country
Strain - Probably Afhgan Mass and Bubble Gum from 00 Seeds
Extractor - Sunon DP200A 120mm fan
And a Homemade Carbon Filter

When it comes to nutrients I'm probably not gonna use any on this grow because money is tight tight tight!

I'm just gonna ask some questions that I need to get clarified before I start.

1º - How many plants can I fit in there? I was thinking 2 but you guys know best.
2º - Am I gonna have to LST my plants?
3º - Is it gonna get to hot in the cabinet because of the 150w light?

For now this is all I can think of, if I remember anything else I'll ask
Thanks in advance.

You didn't say what size pot you are using. That cabinet size is very small and probably only fit one plant and still have room for lights and a filter. You will have some heat so you will need a small fan and a opening near the top to extract the warm air and a opening at the bottom to let fresh air in.You might need to lst to keep the height down also.I would recommend a little bigger cabinet if possible.

Hi Chuppa!

1º - How many plants can I fit in there? I was thinking 2 but you guys know best.
I would say one in a 10litre (or there abouts) pot. Based on my measurements (which are about double yours) I can fit 2 main pots in there. (sometimes i'll pop two plants per pot - although don't exactly recommend it)

2º - Am I gonna have to LST my plants?
Most likely to get the best results. you'll lose about 25-30cm to the pot and 15-30cm for the bulb (in a reflector?) You'll have bout 30cm (ish) of grow room so opening the plant wide and tying down the main stem to even out the canopy would be a good idea.

3º - Is it gonna get to hot in the cabinet because of the 150w light?
With extraction and a window cracked you should be okay - 150w cfl gives off heat (especially in a small space) but up to around 85f you'll be fine.

Dont forget to get a circulation fan to move your plants around / keep your cfl cool. I'd wire up some PC fans to save on space and hang them where needed.

Hope some of this helps
All the best

I'm gonna have a fan on the top and a hole on the bottom for intake.
For now this cabinet is gonna have to do, I plan on upgrading in the future tho.

Hey Blue
So just one then?
Why 30 cms for the bulb? I've heard that because the bulb doesn't get hot plants can touch the bulb that they don't get hurt. I won't use a reflector at the beginning but I do plan on making one.
Btw 25-30 cms for the pot sounds like a huge pot to me, do I really have to use one that big? Isn't 20cms good?
I am gonna use a pc fan for circulation that's perfect for the job because it's really small, it's just the paddles, it doesn't have the square thingy.

Hey :)
Why 30 cms for the bulb?
height: 80cm (cab), minus 30cm pot height from the bottom, minus 20cm (from roof) to hang large cfl from. (probably 10cm more with a reflector)

= available grow space (30cm)

Btw 25-30 cms for the pot sounds like a huge pot to me, do I really have to use one that big? Isn't 20cms good?
If i was only putting one pot in there, i'd choose a big one. I think nearly every pot i've used has been about that size. I experimented with some small pots and a tired pot, but got small plants. (as would be expected)

So one pot would be MY preference, but there are others who would go about things a little differently. Ultimately it's what works best for you - maximising your yield per grow in that space will take some time to nail down :)

Do I really need to have 20cms from the top to the light?
How much do you think I will yield? I know that there's no way you can guess but you can try eheh.
And can I use a pot that instead of being taller it can be wider, will that work? That would reduce the height of the pot.

No .. I haven't been clear.

so .. your hanging your light, from the roof. With some hooks - and probably garden wire.
This will take up space in the cab.
I dont have my cfl in my hands - but from memory it was about 15-20cm high .. plus the hooks, and the hanging *unless you're jamming it right to the roof)

That is where the 20cm goes (from the top)

You can get your plant withing a few cm of the light WHEN the plant is a little established (a few nodes)

I don't remember the exact distances for seedlings but you should be fine at full height.

And can I use a pot that instead of being taller it can be wider, will that work?
It will help you keep the plants shorter. Autos like to sink a deep tap root. I think the general consensus is the deeper the pot the better ... but maybe it's gonna be a trial and error thing for you until you get the right combination.

With the right advice, conditions and plant - on a first grow - I'll take a punt at one ounce and 2 grams! :D

Oh I see what you're saying but I'm gonna have the light on the horizontal so I guess that it won't take that much space.
Ok, I'm gonna try and find a pot that suits and like you and most people told me it's gonna be trial and error, it sucks that I have to grow with such a little cabinet but well, for now it's gonna be this way
If it gave me 10 grams I would already be happy to be honest

I started in a cab like that. ^_^

It will make you an awesome grower ..... just like me  *hides from the rotten fruit being thrown* lol

Well, it's more difficult so hopefully I am gonna learn more than If I had it really nice and easy
Btw, about the LST, I've heard that there's different types of training, wich one do you think that I should use?
