Hello AFN, Just started 2nd grow. 1st grow I tried winging it myself and had heat problems, and no good help for a lot of questions until I found AFN right when I finished. I've sinced upgraded from a Grow Dresser, to a Grow Tent, and moved from hallway closet to master bed room closet to take care of heat problem. (Hallway closet trapped the hot air inside).

Right now I am at day 3. (All sprouted)

Day 1, I soaked seeds in 6.0 PH'd bubbled water for about 1 1/2 hours, planted in Pro-Mix HP, w/ 6.0 PH'd bubbled water, and covered with plastic wrap.

Day 2 (morning), 3 out of 5 sprouted, by the end of the day 4 out of 5 were sprouted.

Below is what I'm using. Below that is some pic's

Auto Mazar in Pro-Mix Hp,
one gallon Smart Pots w/a layer of hydroton rocks in bottom w/bonsi screen mesh on top of that, then Pro-Mix on top,
Fox Farm Trio,
GH Flora Micro,
Super Thrive,
240 Watt LED,
Sun Blaster T5 (2232 Lumen's),
4" exhaust fan,
4" carbon filter,
6" duct intake fan (6" to 5" reducer) w/speed controller,
43" X 24" X 48" Grow Tent,
Air Pump w/ Air stone,
Digital PPM tester, Digital PH tester. :peace:

Also I am using distilled water and have not watered sprouts yet.(w/spray bottle). Maybe tonight or in the morning. Right now i'm only using the Sun Blaster, and exhaust fan/filter. I have them both going 24 hours.

When would be a good time to turn on the LED light, and switch to 20 hours light, 4 hours night?

When i water would it be ok to add a drop of Super Thrive to a gallon for first spray bottle watering?

Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thank you

seems like a smooth setup now.
changing to 20/4 can be done almost at every time.
my temperature doesnt allow at night, as I have no heating mat at the moment,
but as I get it, I will switch to 20/4 (will be something in between day 14 and 20)

I'm subbed for this one! :check:

Cheers,

edit: there is a globe with a chain, thats the point to put in a link in your old thread. (need to view advanced post edit)

Slick setup dude. Something I noticed is that you have more intake than exhaust and that's generally the other way around. I don't see a whole lot of folks using an active fan for intake, as long as you have enough exhaust power, then the tent will create negative pressure for the passive intake through whatever vent you have. Something to think about as one is sorta unnecessary. You could just use to 4 inch with carbon filter for your exhaust and that's it. :D
Unless of course you're still having temp issues and that's fine if it works.

I love SuperThrive and you can use it fairly early IME, but I wouldn't use it for my sprayer that early. Just plain Ph water.

As stated, you can pretty much switch to 20/4 whenever. Some folks do 24/0 for the first 2-3 weeks, when they'l have a few sets of leaves and nodes then switch to 20/4. You can turn on the LED at that point too.

Is that LED a Blackstar?

Cheers

Thanks LowBudge, and Squid. Yes it is a Light House Hydro Black Star LED. On my test run with both lights, and fans going, the temp was about 80 to 85 , but i notice when the wet soil went in the temp cooled a little bit. I also have a fan speen controler on the 6" intake fan to help control temp. (the 80 cfm 4" inline fan i had was to weak to cool the tent). With only the SunBlaster And Fan/Filter going the temp is about 79 to 81. After i start the LED light the heat will go up that's why the intake fan. We'll see how it goes on day 14.

On day 11 I will start feeding with 1/4 strength grow big nute, + one drop Super Thrive or like FD's feed schedule. Am i following FD's feed schedule all the way through?

On day 14 I will start 20/4 light cycle, turn on the LED light, and intake fan.

Below are pic's fo day 4, and i switch fan inside to a clip fan. (Looks nicer) :D

Still haven't watered yet. Maybe tonight or tomorrow :204:

FDs schedule is fine. :check: All sounds good to me, bro. :D Looks good too! I love the little seedlings. :D

Ok, it's day 10 from seed.

On day 11 (tomorrow), 1/2 teaspoon Big Bloom + one drop Super Thrive at 6.0 ph'd water right?

I'll probably need some kind of Cal. Mag. later. Would just some Epsom Salt be alright?

I also have some Liquid Seaweed, When would be a good time to use it, and how much?

Below are pic's from day 1, to 10. On day 5 I had to take the tent down and switch back to the dresser until the weekend is over. A pretty good example of stealth. The tent is back in it's box in the corner of the closet. The Fan's/Filter are also in closet. :toke:

Lookin' good, I'd discontinue Super Thrive now.. it's typically recommended to use it only a couple of times per plant. :2cents:

Liquid Seaweed.. mm, do you have the NPK of it? You don't want to mix it with Grow Big but a few drops ( =< 1mL / Gallon ) wouldn't hurt because you're running ProMix HP which has no nutrients in it. In the middle of week 2 (about 11-13 days) you can probably do 2mL per gallon and work your way up. Typically liquid seaweed is a veg fert as opposed to an addititive. It'd basically replace your Grow Big. Once you start running Grow Big and Tiger Bloom it's going to kill/inhibit mycos in your soil. So there's no point in using it during flower. Just veg :2cents:

Read this nute study here for where my information comes from. :wiz:

I'd strongly urge you to get an actual cal-mag product as watering with epsom salt isn't the best way to use it... it's best amended to the soil before hand.

Thanks WG, Nice Nute Study. I haven't used the Super Thrive yet. I'll use a drop of it with the 1/2 teaspoon BIG BLOOM tomorrow. (FD's Schedule). I like the looks of FD's schedule because it has the whole deal from point A to point B. And it has the actual measurement's (not in 1/4 strength this, and that) :D

The Liquid Seaweed, I think i'll hold off on that for a while. ( Until I mix some soil )

I will look around for some Cal. Mag. Products tomorrow also. Will it be in liquid form? When would be a good time to Feed the Cal. Mag. and how much should i use?

So do i have the go head to use Nutes tomorrow? (tomorrow, day 11 from seed)

Your plants look rather healthy and Big Bloom will honestly get them to at least their second set of true leaves which they appear to be pushing out now. If you're following FD's schedule, I'd start running what ever the low dosage he requires for veg nutes on either your next watering or definitely the one after that. I've run FF nutes for 2-3 grows and never had the best of luck with them in mid to late flower due to not running a strong CaMg product.

I recommend Botanicare CalMag+. As well that GH Flora Micro you'll want to run your entire grow but I'd start it late veg (week 3-4) and run it until finish. The sulphur is essential for preventing cal-mag issues later on in flower. :wiz: If you order it online, it'll be in liquid form.. if you get it from a hydro shop, there may be a granular option - but I'd get the liquid version regardless. It's very fast acting. :2cents:

I don't even know if I'd use Super Thrive at this point either, your plants are rather established.. Superthrive is meant to help plants become established.. that's why it's heavily recommended when transplanting. It's Vitamin B1 and some rooting hormone chemical. With the looks of your plants, I'd let them continue to focus on vegging. Again, just my :2cents:

Good luck brother, I'll be around if there's anything else I can answer.. :wiz:

:check: I'll start FD's schedule tomorrow. 1/2 teaspoon BIG BLOOM. Next time I'll try to remember to start Super Thrive a little earlier.

Week 3-4 (late veg.) I'll start GH Flora Micro, and Botanicare CalMag+. I guess we'll just figure out how much of each next week.

Thanks WG. I will get more into that Nute Study over the next few days. :D
