Is anyone from here using it? I know the bx is popular, but I have to take what I can get. MG moisture control is my next best option locally. PH is 6.5 out of the bag and have not checked NPK values yet. Any insight is much appreciated:peace:

Promix can sometimes be too nutrient rich for seedlings and can burn them, you need to check as each brand is different :)

If you can get some light mix (soil with little to no added nutrients) then that's a great place to start for seedlings. I'd personally recommend a light soil to start, then transplant to the Promix about 1-2 weeks in :) Hope this helps bud!

Edit: Disregard this post, got a couple of soils mixed up with eachother.

Hey dk and Billy. :smokebuds:

ProMix BX actually has very minimal starter nutrients and is perfect to start seedlings in.

This is the first time I'm hearing about the ProMix All Purpose, though. I must say I'm excited! I love ProMix BX like a sea gull loves bread! What does it say is in the All-Purpose?

And dk, MG is not a good option to use and should be avoided at all costs for a number of reasons. If you do some searching around the site, you'll see a ton of testimonials of people who have had a really hard time when they used MG soil. Even without knowing anything about the ProMix All Purpose, I would recommend it hands down over any version of MG soil! :2cents:

The All Purpose is part of a retail line they started recently. My supplier doesn't have it yet. This is the first time I'm seeing it here also. There are two different All Purpose, a Growing Mix and a Planting Mix. Which did you get? The Growing Mix is a soil less mix, probably identical to either HP or BX. The Planting Mix has humas, soy based nutes and myco.

Billy, I think you are confusing Pro Mix with Fox Farms Ocean Forest. Pro Mix is a soil less mixture, meaning it has no amendments like worm castings or guano. Pro Mix only contains starter nutrients, enough for about 2 weeks of seedling growth. It is not a hot mix like FFOF and will not harm seedlings. In fact, it is what many green houses use to start their seedlings.

Yeah that's it Muddy, my bad. I got confused for a sec lol

It is the growing mix and it contains spagnum peat, perlite, lime for ph adjustment, and a wetting agent. I'm going to pot someup and run the ro water thru it and see what the run-off is soon. Hopefully it has enough lime to keep it where it needs too be throughout my next attempt, A hundo per 8gr. is BS!

I bought a bale of the PM All Purpose for $14, which is incredibly cheap compared to the $40 bale of HP or BX. It contains no nutes, no mycos, and it has the same ingredients as what Dkmf1 stated.
Sad to say, I've experienced major problems with it, but it may be operator failure and not the mix. My ph has been in the high 7's (runoff). I have read a lot of contradictory advice concerning where to ph the water/feed at, in promix. Some say treat it as soil (6.5) and others as hydro (5.8). No matter where I ph my intake water, I get the same runoff (7+). I read a statement from JM, yesterday that pointed out that PM will give high runoff ph if it becomes dry before watered, and that as long as your intake ph is always on point, then you should have no problems. Wish me luck for round 3! :toke:

Hope my experience with PM AP helps, somehow. :smokebuds:

sorry... lemme clarify... the ph of the mix (via soil probe) will read higher as it dires out.. water runoff should indicate where you're at.

if you are running off at 7... you need to come down quite a bit...

Great. That is a soil less mix like the BX and HP that KS and I use, except it doesn't contain any mycorrhizal fungi or starter nutrients. It has sufficient lime to buffer throughout the whole grow and no additional is needed. pH out of the bag should be between 6.8 - 7. With no nutrients in the mix it's up to you to supply them. What were you planning on using? Without any starter nutes you'll have to feed a bit earlier. For mycorrhizal fungi there are several good products like Humbolt Myco Madness or Great White.
