I am new to the forum, and newish to growing. The past 2 runs were all used with Pro-mix with mycorrhizae but my local hydro shop no longer carries it in the smaller bags. The representative turned me to Sunshine #4 and told me it was "basically the same with some coco in it" Said it was a bit lighter than Pro-mix. Anyone have experience with the two mediums before i plant? I just want to make sure that it has no nutes in it. I just want some REAL input before i spend my hard earned money. Any replys would be greatly appreciated.

AND HI AFN!

welcome to afn!

i have no experience w/ promix but i have used Sunshine Advanced promix #4 pretty much from the beginning w/ excellent results...ssa#4 also has mycro funguys and is an excellent medium for organic nutes.

i dont run organic, i hand water like a passive hydro setup. I use Advanced Sensi A/B, Sensizym, Bud Candy, Cal-mag, and bottanicare Liquid Karma. i pulled 2 oz per plant before with this setup and with a 3ft/3ft tent space is limited. I just want to make sure that Sunshine #4 is close to what i had before as a medium. So i really wouldnt have to change my feeding schedual.

Yes, the only real difference between the two is the added coco coir in the Sunshine mix. You should be able to switch over to it without having to alter your feeding schedule.

I've done a couple grows with straight SS#4 and I have done some organic "water only" grows with a super-soil recipe where I used SS#4 as a main constituent. It is very much a "light" mix and I have had some minor calcium and magnesium deficiencies because I didn't account properly for the fact that it was so very mild. It's a GREAT seed starter, and the Dinafem Haze 2.0 auto that I ran in it with just the Sensi A+B absolutely took off.

If I were to do another straight SS#4 grow, I'd add a party cup of big chunk perlite per gallon of soil mix.
