The Anglo-Saxon kingdoms that emerged during the Dark Ages spoke largely mutually intelligible varieties of what is now called Old English, each varying somewhat in phonology, morphology, syntax, and lexicon.

Man oh man, do I have you guys fooled. I'm an old white guy with white hair half way down my back and a white beard down to my nips! When I was younger, and had a shorter beard I was told I looked like Kenny Rogers, whom I can't stand, so always hated that. Now I probably look more like Uncle Si, except everything is platinum. I sound more like Donald Duck than Morgan Freeman!
