Good Morning,

I'll be growing autofems using a TD/DWC system in a 2.5 x 2.5 tent and have a question about lighting in the germination/seedling stage.

I'll soak the seeds for about 12hrs and then insert in RapidRooters and place in a humidity dome. Once they have their first set of leaves I'll transfer to the hydro system.

Question: I have a 300W (136W true power) LED from Viparspectra and wondered if I can use this over the humidity dome (at the appropriate distance) or should I use my lower power T5 at the suggested 6" height? If I can use the LED, what distance should it be from the RapidRooters?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I use a cob light over with no issue.

Hi Rollin_along,

Thanks for the reply. So just to confirm, you're saying that I can use my LED to coax the little guys out of the rapidrooters and that 24" is sufficient height for this stage? Perhaps a rookie question, but I've never used LED before and don't want to burn them once they reach the surface of the RR's.

Thanks again for your time!

NP, see how they do, if you have room I would go 36" then lower them if they stretch loads. That means roughly more than 1-1/2" with just small true leaves. If they shoot up and get too lanky, you can throw soil around the stem to support it but it's better if you don't let that happen.
