I grew one of these in a 3 gal fabric pot, it did seem a little slow but nothing drastic, once she hit stretch mode she grew to 19 inches and I ended up with 58 grams of some nice quality herb. She makes great extractions as well! For anyone who has grown out Sour Crinkle, was this strain a slow growerer during the seedling stage, first 2 weeks?
Give it a couple weeks it sounds like you're right on track. Thanks for the replies! I’m afraid that i kept the coco too wet. I have 2 SC growing and at 10 days the 2nd set of true leaves are just now showing. I will let them ride it out another week or so and see where they stand.
When we grew her out she was pretty vigorous, on the larger side but then she kicked into flower fast and hard, 19 inches sounds about right as above, not very branchy but a nice far main cola and decent satellite buds
Sure, the most important part is moisture level. I start most of my seeds in cups, 5 to 9oz clear cups. I use Coco, precharged with 1/2 strength nutes and a little Mycos. I use 2 cups, an outer cup WITHOUT holes in the bottom and the cup with Coco has holes in the bottom. I start BOTTOM feeding only once the seedling is up and opened. A lot quicker than most people suggest. Using 1/2 strength nutes I put a VERY small amount of nute water in the bottom of my cup. The Coco wicks it up almost instantly. I do this multiple times per day if needed. I avoid watering from the top until I transplant. Only enough to dampen The Coco if it drys out too much. Keep your Coco damp, not wet. More on the dryer side to be honest.@slowandeasy would you mind sharing with me your watering technique during the first 3 weeks? I’ve checked out many of your grows and your seedlings look so healthy and large compared to mine at the same age.
I use very small cups. Anything holds water more than those small cups. I have some Gold Glue seedlings I started in 3quart pots. When I go directly into final pots, I let my pots sit a day or 2 before planting to let the Coco dry out a little. When I plant them I cover with a cup and don't water until they are up with first set of leaves. When I do water it is ALWAYS around the OUTSIDE of the pots. I see 75%+ of people on this site water their seedlings directly around it...which is just counterproductive. Roots seek moisture. Watering right on the roots doesn't give them incentive to grow/seek moisture. I would NOT bottom feed your current pot. Over watering is easy in bigger pots with no root system. ALWAYS use your own 2 hands and simply pick up your pot in the seedling stage. Ask yourself this question EVERY time you check on them at this stage. "Is the pot/cup heavier, lighter or the same as the previous time I checked?" Always check weight before watering. Is it heavier than before the last watering? If so, don't water...it's too wet. Is it lighter than before you watered last time? If so, great! Give more. Is it the same weight as before? That's great too. You want it to be the same or lighter than the last time you watered, the plant is growing and using it at a good rate.Thank you for the reply! I will def give your technique a try my next grow. Unfortunately I just planted some germmed seeds earlier today in 6” tall X 6” round pots. Do you think it would be possible to do the bottom feeding in a pot that size? From what you describe I’m afraid they will hold too much water for too long.
