If you looked you probably know what I mean. Simple question, What is the smallest cup size you would use so as to sex an auto without stunting before putting in final pot?

:peace: ask/learn

Hard to be exact Mustard iv seen roots show from the bottom of a 1 gallon pot at day 15 & some still wont show show sex for a week or two

Rule of thumb Mustard is a 32oz cup will do ya without stunting, some strains a 16oz but usually it does stunt them in the 16oz. Have had mixed results with tier planting, though all mostly positive.....remember reading somewhere they say a minimum of a depth 12" to prevent stunting....

Ive been intrigued by the tiering method also, I use a slightly ammended ffof soil so its obviojsly to hot to start seeds in. Question, if I was to just fill say a Styrofoam 16oz cup with starting substrate with the bottom cut out, would that suffice to gain height from my pots? Thats all im aiming for

I've used 16,18,20 & 32oz to tier..personally I like 32 more and the 18 & 20s that I find here as they are taller..as far as stuntin..can happen in any I've seen some I had in 32 roots hit the bottom in 8 days..so to say just watch em if they are growing quick or if you can see the roots at the bottom transplant, have your transplant pot ready..when the times comes not to wait..

44oz. I've done it countless times... Take a 44oz, cut the bottom off FIRST. Take another 44 oz UN CUT and slip it over it. So you can check to see how quickly or not the roots are setting up. That way you can keep on top of them getting root bound... In ideal conditions you should get sex within 2-3 weeks. The 44 oz should do ya just fine. I found 32 oz cups just don't cut it... 16 oz sometimes only works for a few days.

the most important thing is to keep an eye on the roots (hence the pre cut cup inside the un cut cup) and keep in mind to pull the cup out gently as you check because you don't want to rip the roots... best to check AFTER you water/feed because when they are nice and moist they tend to not rip as easily... Also the best way to transplant to final pot. When they are SOAKED not dry... Hope that helps...

Im with Rebel, 44 oz cups are what I will give a try next run:bong: I use 32 ouncers and I get stunted plants, not all the time, but I wouldn't use anything smaller than that:smokebuds:
44 oz might be the way to go bud:wiz:

What do you guys do about LST'ing, do you wait until transplanted if you are tying them down at all or have you go some mini lsts going on in the party cup after 2nd set of trues lol
