Hey guys! I'm setting up my second grow now, I have one already up and running in a 4x4x6 with a 1K, running 5 Critical Jack crosses, femed. Now the other tent I'm setting up is a 3x3x6 and has way less room in the tent for filters/fans etc.. I keep seeing these YouTube videos where people mount their fan/filter outside of the tent and blow the air out through the filter. I've personally never done this, I've always had my fan/filter inside the tent with the air pulling through the filter, but I want to run a 1K in there and a 6" fan and 24" long filter def won't fit. So I was thinking of two options, which I'd like some advice on. First one is just using the 4" fan I already have and order another 4" by 12" filter, mount that inside the tent, and air cool my cool tube individually with my 6" fan mounted outside the tent. My other option was to try what I saw in a few videos and just keep everything outside the tent and push everything out through the filter, externally.. Please any suggestions would be great.

You have to pull air into the filter than out the other end. Therefore the filter should be on the inside of the tent.At six feet high you should have enough room if you mount the blower and filter in the top of the tent and rout the air to the outside.

You're cramming ten pounds of shit into a three pound sack by putting a 1000 watt into a 3x3. The fan and filter should fit in the top of the tent if ou mount them diagonal, corner to corner. Failing that you can have the fan sitting on top of the tent and just hang the filter inside. Run the tubing out to the fan up top, that's what I do.

Have you thought about trading down in light size? Maybe someone will trade you a 400 or 600 for your 1000? 400 sufficently lights a 3x3 and 600 is pushing it. I don't think that little four inch fan would be able to cover it.

So all the setups with the air being pushed through the filters are wrong and don't work? Just doesn't make sense... I've seen so many professional setups like that, I just thought you needed a special filter.

Your second option sounds like a good one. I have multiple size lights, all that you mentioned. I just want fat trees so why not use the 1K? The 4 in fan I was speaking of was just to scrub the air, and I was going to cool the tube with an external 6 in fan. I mean I will pull more bud using a 1K VS a 400W correct, regardless of the size of the tent?

Thank you both for your input. I need to get this figured out..

I agree with Mr Pig i have a 3x3x6 and i get the lot in aswell as 2 fans and 2 GrowNorthern ms0006 LEDs youll be fine for space dont sweat it. :smokebuds:

Now I'm just curious about the light.... Will a 400W produce the same amount of bud in a 3x3 VS a 1K?
