Indoor removing leaves

I have been seeing the air pots on here what is the advantage of using them? I got two of those material type pots which are 15 litres so the other 4 plants are in 10-12 litre pots.

Morning steelydan. Those air pots are the bomb. No need to worry about your plants getting root bound.

They prune the roots as they grow into those air holes. I use the 3 gallon ones on my photo's. Just ordered myself 3 more to make a total of 6.

With these kind of pots, you'll be watering every 2 days.

With a normal pot like your growing in now, you should be giving them a full runoff watering at least once a week. And let them dry out a bit before rewatering. Lift up your pot. If it feels light, it's time to water.

I don't know your exact pot size, but I would only water every 2 days. By watering every day, your ricking root rot..."My 2 cents"

great, thanks for that, i will check out those air pots for my next grow. ROOT ROT? i assume that happens if the roots NEVER get to dry out? correct? As for watering until a run off i have never done that so will do that in the next few days.

Yep, that happens when they stay wet. I've never had it in my years of growing until my current grow. I lost my photo Qleaner that was in her 2 week of flowering, die from it.

So be careful with that...

After you see water runoff in the pot. Stop watering. Let it sit for about an hour. That lets the soil absorb what ran through it. Then with a turkey baster, suck out the remaining water. Let her dry out for a couple of days and continue watering like that till harvest. This way also flushes it in a way...

So do the watering for the runoff with water with no nutes in it, then when it dries out carry on with nutes ? I just checked two shops here in north london neither sell airpots, i looked online what size would be good?

Hazy....like the song goes " I Think I'm In Love" ! Very Nice ! And you are right. I remove a few leaves daily that are not needed, bottom especially or anything that is to big, or the less healthy ones at times. I give them a little twist & pinch, I'd rather let the buds get the newts.
Again....very nice grow.

Not at all, autos are made of pretty tough stuff. Here is a super-cropped, lst'd & defoliated AutoUltimate standing 1m10cm after much abuse and yielded 6oz+ in 15L of soil, using just organic bottle feed.

Hazy-At what age do you start to de-foliate? I have a plant that's into a very nice pre-flower and this morning as an experiment I pulled a few of the big fan leaves off. That was before I read this thread. Timing couldn't be better.

Guys and gals, be careful pulling/cutting of the fan leaves. Those leaves are the plants stored energy. Pulling them off to get more light is not a good idea... Tuck and bend. If you think you really need to remove a fan leave, try trimming those leaves instead of cutting the whole thing off...:Sharing One:

Oh yeah, most definitely bro... Their main purpose is to collect light and cool the plants.

Large leaves serve as photosynthetic factories for the production of sugars and other necessary growth sub stances. They also create shade, but at the same time they are collecting valuable solar energy and producing foods that will be used during the floral development of the plant. Premature removal of leaves may cause stunting, because the potential for photosynthesis is reduced.
