Harvest & Curing Rescuing Spongy Bud

I just ordered a the 58% Bovidas from scamazon, today. I've never used them, or felt need for them in the past, but it so insanely dry where I am now, I figured I'd give it a go. Can you elaborate on the taste changing? I've read that in just a couple of other places. I don't mind a slight flavor change, but I'd hate to kill the flavor of primo bud. I had hoped these would fix a potential problem, not introduce another one...

Yes, if the Bovidas are used in a jar that it needs to push or pull too much moisture IMHO the flavor does change. Conversely, when I have used them on bud that was already dried to the same range ie. 62% it did not seem to affect the flavor much. It is also my personal experience that you cannot reuse them to a different strain without changing the flavors but that has not always been a negative outcome. If your bud is dried properly you do not need a boveda if you are not keeping really long term. I have some Green Crack over 15 months now with 62% packs that tastes great still! The biggest enemy is too much moisture it will kill your bud over time.

OK, I think I will be fine then, using the Bovidas. Despite the dry RH here (often 15-20%), I was able to get a good dry, and got the buds in the jars just as I like them. It will be interesting to see how my "eyeball" evaluation of dry compares with a known standard of 58%. I really don't have a clue how close it will be, but it will be fun to find out.
Thanks, Kyle

I almost always overdry when I just guess.

Something else I want to preface my "tasting" with is I don't smoke; I make rosin then decarb it and put it into chocolate. I always use the same chocolate so the different flavors have to come from the rosin and wow are they different. My friends ate me right out of the Zambeza Blueberry Auto in short order and now we are working on the Fastbuds Green Crack Auto. Not only is the flavor incredible but the high is intense consumed this way. I made a video of how I make my chocolate bars. It is on page 6 of my DIY Rosin press thread.

Interesting. Edibles and I do not get along, for what ever metabolic/psychiatric reason. I still, after 30 years of fairly consistent use, am a one or two hit wonder. Different tokes, for different folks, I guess. I agree on the eyeball method, it's not very scientific. Funny how taking a two year break from growing changes things. I never heard a peep about actual humidity control once jarred, and now there are all kinds of choices. I am getting old, and out of date! Then again, my kids tell me that all the time.

My 58% Bovida packs arrived, and I tossed one in each jar of my Sucker Punch harvest. Buds are slightly more moist than my "eyeball" cure. Actually, they are exactly the level I had been shooting for, but missed. I did notice a slight change in smell, but words fail when trying to describe it. I attribute the change to the increased humidity, and it is not a change for the worse, just different.
Initial impression is good, hopefully they turn out to be a good solution.

Old icmag refugee I remember a few years ago a guy made a trip on the perfect cure Everytime and I couldn't believe that people didn't want to bite then, saying it's ridiculous putting a hygro in every jar! The opposition was appalling glad to see it's a mainstream idea now amongst the cannaheads who prefer visually affirmed curing status that is perfect and time free every time!!:pass::crying:

Refugee, that's for sure. Was a great forum, but like many others, it just got too big! Hope it stays nice and cool here. This is a good forum!
