Grow Mediums Reusing your coco?

I am reusing my coco this round but did not do a separate flush, during the flushing of the plants is when that was done ,after the plants were chopped, the coco was cleaned of as much roots as I could get out, mixed with some new coco, rinsed and then recharged/pre loaded with 1/4 strength nutes and a mycorrhizae /bacteria ..

it is my understanding that coco can be washed or flushed ( with straight water)if new or being reused but not while plants are growing in it,it messes up the cation rates that the nutes are absorbed at,just my 2 cents tho

No,being what's called an inert media is does not hold nutes like soil does, this is another reason why it should not be "straight" watered, coco is a soiless media and falls into the hydro care/feed family,, it can be treated like soil or hydro depending on how often you feed/water,the more often( like a drip/automated system) will require the ppm to be lower that a once a day feed or every other day feed like soil...peace

Carl I've reused my coco up to three times but it's important that you add enzymes after harvest to eat away the decomposed roots. The coir is fine I flush it a few times with water only plus drip clean which strips out excess salt buildup from the coco itself. The third time I only used water and zymes for one week and it worked fine so either way you're good as long as the zymes are there. I keep using them for the first few weeks on the seedlings

Hey @JAYAR ,do you recommend a brand of enzymes to decompose the roots,I think I read another thread where the person didn't "clean out "the roots or stem but used ( prolly) something similar for the decomposition ,I cant find the thread so I don't have a name of the enzyme..also,if a person ( me) cleaned the coco of as much roots as possible would this be okay( cause I could not get 100% out) ,my plants seem to be okay with the coco but it was a pain( I'd rather try the enzyme)...Peace bro
