I'm currently growing 4 auto flowers in a tent using a 600w led, temps around 82 degrees, humidity 50 percent. I normally have plants in all stages growing in the same tent. I'm using 3 gallon plastic pots and a soil with plenty of perlite. My current problem is that my pots just won't dry out at the bottom, just on top so my seedlings seem to suffer. Would you agree? I'm really thinking about trying smart pots when growing indoors.

Can try and drill/poke/cut a few more holes in the bottom to let it aerate some more. How often do you water and how much? Do you mean that since you've started you would water and then no matter how long you let them go the bottom wouldn't dry out? Do you have good air movement and exhaust?

You really don't want all the way to the bottom to dry out. Your plant would be wilted beyond recovery. When your top has dried down to a couple of inches down, you should water. Also, it looks like your plant is showiing heat/light intensity problems. I don't think 82 degrees should be causing problems, so how close are you running that 600 watt LED?

:yeahthat:

Not to mention I let my plants go for maybe 8 days before their first watering (after I pre-soaked the pots) and after the first few inches were dry I gave them smaller waterings of maybe 3-500ml a pop around the stem when they are really tiny.

You def don't want the very bottom to be completely dry, especially early or the root will hit dry soil and stunt the crap out of it.

Thank you all. Initially I watered a couple days before placing the seed in the soil (pre soaked) then watered lightly around the plant once a week. I'm using a 4 inch fan for intake as well as a 4 inch fan for ciurculation. My exhaust fan is a 6 inch but I don't run it very often unless it heats up too much. Should I be running the exhaust fan at all times?

That doesn't look like a watering issue to me , friend. Have you had a recent problem with pH? What kind of lights are you using?

...I don't have a digital ph tester only the liquid test kit so I try my best to keep the ph consistent. I've got a 600w viparspectra used during veg and flower @Renaissance Redneck
I started with those :pass:. Never could read them worth a damn :crying:
How high is your light? I'm sort of looking through one eye, but to me that smacks of a wild shift in pH or nute uptake, which could be caused by dry soil (among other things).

Unless it's in a big open area, you should run the fan as much as you can without compromising the environment completely. That is, without removing all your humidity etc. (This is my opinion at least) The way I have mine setup is to have my 6inch 440cfm inline fan go on approx 3 times an hour for 2 mins each. This allows me to keep my environment in the correct temperature and humidity for probably 90% of the time, but still exchange the air for fresh CO2 which is important for healthy plant growth and such. I'm too much of a noob to say if that contributes to your growth issue.

Like @Renaissance Redneck is saying, what's your light height at? You have some interesting stretch between the nodes. Lastly again pH is so critical. If able, maybe take 2 or 3 samples of the soil and do a test with the strips and see what they say? Should give you a rough, however not super accurate reading.

I will for sure look at getting a digital ph tester. My light is easily 24 inches above my tallest plant, I can't move it up any higher.

This is different strain I planted at the same time
