Got the two Short Riders (see Micro growing) going into Flower soon. In fact Shorty #2 started today and #1 by the end of this week. Got a 300w Feliz Dual Spectrum lighting up the SuperBox. My question is. I'd want to do two Northern Lights next. I only have space for the two Shorties in the 2 gallon SmartPots. Will I be able to start the N/L's in peat pots. I have some that are the size of a 8oz drinking glass. I was thinking of cutting the bottom out of the peat pots. Rest them in a tray of perlite. When they get ready to actually plant. Just put them in the 2 gallon SpartPots when the Shorties are finished. That may be in 6-7 weeks. I know that the Girls don't like to be transplanted. Any idea? Day #1 Flower; SuperBox 001.jpg

are you talking two photoperiod NL or two auto NL? because if they're photoperiod, you can do whatever you want in terms of keeping them in small pots since they can always be given time to recover/grow before flowering. if they're autos, i need to clarify what you mean.

What I think you're saying is that you want to start some new plants before you harvest your current ones so there's less down time. Your plan is to start the auto NL in small "peat pots" (are you talking about a pot made out of peat, or peat pellets?), and then to avoid damaging the root system of your autoflowering plant, just bury the pot in the soil, and let the roots grow out of it like that.

If that's what you intend to do, it's a very good idea. typically what i do is i'll take 2 red solo cups, cut the entire bottom off of one, and put some drainage holes on the other, then stack the one without the bottom inside the one with drainage holes, fill it with dirt, plant the seed, blah blah, then when it comes time to "transplant" it, i just take the cup with the drainage holes off and bury the cup without the bottom about an inch or 2 into the soil, which lets the roots grow down into the new, larger pot. The main thing to keep in mind is time. The plants will outgrow a solo cup (about 16 ounces, right?) by the time it's showing sex, so you need to transplant it stat to prevent stunting its growth.

Hope that was clear!

Hey Baylee

If you don't have the space ('i know how that feels), I think the best thing you can do is wait it out until this grow has finished - bare in mind, that you might want to use your super box for drying (with the carbon filter and all) which will add another 4-5 days. Just have everything prepped - seeds ready, pots ready and soil available, then as soon as the box is clear, in go the next!

The tiered method is a good space saver (especially for growing regs where you want to get rid of the males (I only grow fems)), and maybe if i wasnt using my cab for drying, i'd start some in party cups in the last week of my current grow, but to keep it simple, i grow, then dry, then grow again!

I'm in the same situation. I really need to figure something out, because it always feels like such a huge loss of time waiting for everything to dry out before germinating seeds.

Aye, I used to germ in a propogator on top of my boiler .. these days, i'm straight into soil (well coco) with the cab lights on, and 3 days later "pop"

The Northern Light are Autos. Got some great ideas there. Thanks. I'm gonna have to just wait it out. When the Shorties finish I'll need the SuperBox for drying. I'll have enough "Bud" for my needs until I can get another grow going. I'm with you Blue on FEM seeds. When you only have limited space that's really the only option. Got a few options on my next grows. Besides the Northern Lights autos; I've got some non-autos. Bubblelicious, Swiss Cheese (from my last Gurellia grow) and Aurora Indica. The Cheese my be just a bit too stinky for an inside grow. Thanks for all your ideas.:peace:
