This is my first grow. Well my second actually if you want to get technical about it... I got my setup of 2x 25l tubs of soil and 1x 125W dual spectrum CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lamp) couple of months ago and put some seeds in my guest room closet. Everything was going good for a few weeks, but I had to pull things up for a reason I won't go into here... ;) I'm calling this time around my virgin grow.

So for my first real shot at this I added another 125W CFL (so 1 for each tub) and picked my seeds and sowed my crop.

Based on my first "first experience" and the just absolutely lush mental growth of a Dutch Passion (DP) AutoFem PolarLight #2 seed for a few weeks, I decided to go all DP this time around and put in 2x AutoDurban Poison and 2x AutoUltimate, with the thinking that I'd carry on with 1 plant of each - whichever seedling looked strongest. I'll repot the other seedling for a friend to put in their greenhouse for fun.

I soaked the seeds for 24 hours and planted them. and then I made a couple of mistakes...:face: Nothing's come up and I think I know why...

I covered the seeds too deeply I think - probably an inch deep, but I also I was not home much and didn't keep watering and worst of all I put the CFL's only a couple of inches above the soil. I fried my babies.

So I've started over. After 36 hrs of soaking, 1 of the AutoDurban Poison is already sprouted. I've put all 4 seeds in today and moved the lights to about a foot above the soil 24/0 (24 hours on/0 off for now)

Live and learn baby.

Yep, we live and learn, so true. Heck if we were perfect all the time we would all be penguins. (Calm down, that was a joke)

How deep did you pot them this time ? Flippers crossed for you my friend. Keep 'em moist not watered. And warm, not baked. Keep in touch pal. eP.

Day 10 report:

Everything looking fine so far. Durban Poison's are a little short (less than an inch tall), but look healthy. Ultimates look healthy too, and are an inch and a half tall. I planted them half an inch deep this time. Tried to keep them moist but not overwatered. Lights were a good foot above the soil and 24/0. Just gave them a little water and switched to 20/4 on the lights because with two lights running all the time it does get kind of warm.

Day 15: Still looking good. I fertilized them for the first time today with Sensi-Grow A+B. I was aiming for 2ml/L concentration, but maybe ended up slightly stronger than that. Will post more pics next week at Day 20!

Looking good brother! Keep up the posts and the pictures! You have them in soil in 25 liter (about 6.6 gallons) tubs still? What kind of soil is it? How often are you watering and how much are you watering?

:Sharing One: Keep up the good work man!

Day 20: Everything still looking ok to my untrained eye. I feed them Sensi Grow A+B again today. Ultimates still racing ahead of Poisons. A little yellow tinging on some of the leaves, but I seem to remember someone saying that this was normal?

The soil was a commercial soil for seedlings - no fertilizers in it. I was going to transplant the weakest of the two each seedlings to a friend's greenhouse, but can't bring myself to do it. Also I don't have the time at the moment! I'm watering them about 1L in each pot (over the two plants) every other day. I'm out of town for a few days now though, so will give them another watering in the morning and cross my fingers cause they'll go about 4 days without. I'm hoping the deep tubs will hold enough water for that time - and also support two plants per tub. The grow space will be full of plants near the end I bet though... hopefully ;)

Wow they're really taking off now. 4 more days before Day 30 shots and they are about a foot tall... Looking healthy. 4 days without water did not seem to harm them...

Day 28: AutoDurbanPoisons putting on a growth spurt. Had to move the light up 6 inches or so because they were 7 or 8 inches away from the bulb and one of them got a little fried on the top...

Day 29: Hit them with some Sensi Bloom A+B for the first time today. Every 5 days now on that for the next 30? days I think... Fancy air ionizer/purifier thing should be arriving in the mail today to assist with the fact that it's starting to get a little pungent.

I wonder if I should trim off some of the lowest leaves or branches? That's what I would have done with roses... no point in a plant wasting its energy keeping that greenery alive when I want it to put the energy into blooming.

30 day pics on Sunday...

30 day report: Plants all look pretty healthy to me except the one DurbanPoison that got too close to the light and got a little scorched on top. They're all about 18 inches tall now. Not sure if they should be taller and/or bushier at this point? Left the ioniser/filter running all weekend, but I could still smell the plants a bit when I walked through the door after being away for the weekend. It might be helping a bit, but it's not clearing it entirely. Luckily where I live no one's likely to notice anyway...
