Hi peoples
on my 2nd grow and have decided to top and scrog this time round. Just topped both my girls, .
My tent is 4ft -2ft ( 120cm- 60cm) do I want a smaller scrog than my tent so I can stretch it and take up some of the slack, surely you want some tension in the netting???
And at what point after topping do I place my net?
cheers peoples

I have tried to SCROG autos twice. I did not work either time. The plants simply do not stay in veg long enough. The nets just ended up being a support system. In a SCROG the branches of the plant are trained horizontally along the screen to expose all of the bud sites to the light. I have done this well with photos over a two month period before the flip. Autos just don't give you enough time before they flower.

I have a 2x4 as well, and have done 2 scrogs. 1 auto and 1 photo I would recommend sticking with photo for scrog, it's just easier. I would recommend just topping and spread with lst then lollipop. You will get a very similar result as a scrog. I dont want to discourage you, it can be done here is my toothless alien from a test for Mephisto.

I made this 1 from PVC its solid worked nice. The photo I did after this I got a scrog net off Ebay. It's a 2 piece scrog net and a support net for above if needed. It covers up to 5x5, but I fitted to 2x4 and zip tied excess. It hooks on tent polls. I put zip ties above and below the hooks to keep from moving. I cant recommend the net more. Im stuck with the size of the pvc net I built, but net can be set to any height. If you do scrog autos I would look for larger autos like xxl white widow or something like that. Makes sure it's a strong plant before you top, if it's a slow grower she will recover slow too. Good luck and if you do a journal tag me I love a scrog! Stay lifted.

I tried it on my current grow. Not for me to be honest. I understand the comments about photos being better for it though.

Thankyou all for your feedback, I’ve had the same reservations myself after many YouTube videos. I’ve already topped both mygirls at day 19 and 20. Today they are 3 weeks old , so yes that doesn’t leave enough time to fill that scrog, it would just end up being one of those ugly trellis grows. Maybe I just stick to lst .we shall see. Thanks again peoples.

Here is an image of my current and first scrog. Mephisto forgotten cookies and fastbuds blue dream. As said above it's not a true scrog. What I found doing this is it's great at filling the area and spreading the plant without having to apply ties for lst all the time. I placed the net about 12" above the pot, strain dependant. If it a small strain probably don't bother. During the stretch I came in almost every day for 1-2 weeks and tucked branches. Was the easiest way I've ever filled a tend and looks like it will be my biggest yield from this 4x4. Regardless of what anyone says you should try it. It will do no harm.

cheers mate . I’ve been mulling it over all morning about what to do next and I know it probably won’t end up being a proper scrog grow,, but as you say it’s a nice way to fill some tent , so I just ordered some Netting, I will learn from it if nothing else, you will have to jump on my journal ( strawberry highs ) and see how i get on. May need some more advice lol
thanks again

scrogging can increase likelihood of powdery mildew, so make sure you have adequate airflow.
