How long do you typically soak your seeds for germination?

Seems like everyone has their own tech for germinating. I soaked for 12 hours in water and a little bit of aloe, then to paper towels on top of a heater set to 90 degrees. 100% success rate so far.

glass of water on wednesday,into damp tissue thur,into a pot on saturday.sink,float,tail no tail its all the same 
but the last time out i totally forgot to do the glass of water thing.so next time out im not gonna bother with the glass of water part :smoking:

Curious what the aloe does. How much is added?
I tried sprouting in a paper towel until the "foot" emerges however my best results have come from soaking in warm water then directly into the soil.

If I soak a bean, I use a small glass of warm water with a coupla drops of soap...sit it on germ mat 24 hours, then plant. I seldom let a bean sprout before planting... too much chance of damage to the tail.
Soap is an excellent way of softening/reducing surface tension and I even use a little soap to help nute uptake during veg.
That being said, after 14 years of growing, I now simply put a bean in moistened soil, cover, place on heat mat and wait.

24 hrs in plain warm tap water in the dark .
Then onto some paper towel it a mini humidor( tuppaware container) either in a warm spot or on a warming mat in the dark.
Wait till they look a lil somethin like this
and then into jiffys soaked in starter nuets 
and back into the mini humidor in the dark till there's green and then under light till everyone's up and awake .
then pop the lid off for a few days and transplant when I'm happy everyone's nice and strong.

18hrs in a cup of water in a dark warm spot, then into the final pot. Like clockwork, you have seedlings 2 days later.
