Hi , I was planning on planting autos (forest fruit) that the seed company says can grow to 200 cm . How close together can I plant them so I'm not wasting seed but using my limited space. I will be growing Outdoors next summer just wondering how many seeds I should order thank you very much.

wow 200 cm...that's a big auto. Have you grown any autos in your spot? Is the locations full sun or is it shaded through part of the day?

Full sun, I had regular big bud that was between 300 &400 cm. They needed November to Finish . I live to far north for regular plants.

Geez...I should be taking lessons from you then!! My biggest auto so far was 51" tall(150cm), and my heaviest was only 41"(100cm) and she weighed 9oz dry. Ive grown photoperiod strains 4 meters in height but never an auto.
Might I ask what your latitude is?

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry, I haven't grow anything but photoperiod. my photoperiod got that tall. They froze in mid-october that's why I want to do auto this year. 200cm is what the seed company claims I might not be able to do it . I saw that somebody had missile 33 that did nine foot tall in the Midwest. I'm guessing that's about three hundred and fifty centimeters I was going to try some of those too but I,m worried about quality . I,m at 43 in the upper Midwest . I want to plant them thick enough so I don't have to pull weeds all summer long. Your 150 cm plants how big at the base were they?

Ahh okay photoperiod strains....gotcha! Honestly height has little to do with weight from what I have learned in 25+ years of growing plants outdoors. I live in a northern climate and we usually get snow between oct the 15th and november the 1st, with frost starting sept the 15th. There is several photo strains that will finish before Oct the 1st. I also grow autos to get a nice early crop harvested between July the 15th and august the 5th. Superautos and long running autos will work well for you as will early photos like sweet seeds fast version line.
So 70-77day(10-11 week) trained autos will take up 2.5 feet. Bigger longer running autos like Autoultimate(40-50") will fit well in a 3 foot hole.

Don't put too much faith in seeds companies blurbs. Assume they are growing in absolutely perfect conditions, by master growers. Not saying don't believe them, just saying that cold nights and other environmental factors have a large impact on final size especially with autos. Some companies I find to be fairly accurate on smells, tastes, effect ect ect Also realize that a lot of strains are mainly developed for the indoor crowd, not so much for outdoor cool region growing.

Have a look at my signatures at the two outdoor guides I wrote, they might help you out, especially the maximizing outdoor autos guide.

BTW 45thN eastern/central Canada here.

Id plant as far apart as your expect them to get tall, so if you are going to grow 3' plants, space them 3' apart and you should be good...
