My own breed
Have been germinating some Indica and some Sativa seeds.
80% of the Indica germinated after 24 hours, but none of the Sativas show any sign of life even after 48 hours

They are just the same age(harvested the same day) and been stored just the same.

Are there any difference in germination speed between Indicas and Sativas, or can it be the Sativa seeds have some disease?

Paper towel
I find soaking them in distilled water for one or two days help them split open slightly than I use paper towels until the tap root get about a 1/4 inch long then into there final pot.Germ time may vary between strains but if there not germed in three or four days there probably no good.

There are no hurry, among these Sativa seeds I will pick a male to cross with a Royal Haze from Queen Seeds.
Then I get seeds with (hopefully)50% good genetics.
Then next time I take a new male from these 50% seeds and cross it with another of my Royal Haze seeds and get 75% pure seeds, and so on til I reach approx 95% purity.
And the same for the Indicas crossed with a Northern Lights.

Then in the end I have an almost pure Indica and almost pure Sativa line, and these are suppose to become the backbone of my cannabis breeding program.

Just have to get a male Sativa to germ ;)

There have been studies with aspirin used in the water, aids germination, it is a natural root hormone. The study showed a large increase in germination percentage. Might be worth a try, I have used 1 dispersible aspirin in a pint of water mixture rate which worked.

Sent from my comfy chair.

I’ve had beans that took 5 days. Keep em warm and wet and they’ll pop unless defective

Thanks.
I have Sativa seeds in two different bags.
So if the first don’t wake up I try some seeds from the other batch.
And if not I try them ALL!
Just need one lucky guy to keep this program continue ;)

I score my seeds in a little jar lined with sandpaper and then I soak them in distilled water with a splash of hydrogen peroxide (on a heating pad or cable box) for 24-48 hours. As soon as I see the seeds cracked and the slightest root tip protruding, they go into damp (using water from the soak cup) paper towel until the root tip is about 3/4” long. Then, straight into soil or a Root Riot cube in a tray with a humidity dome on a heating pad at 85°. Except for a bad batch of seeds I got from ILGM, I’ve had a 95-98% germ rate.

I’ve heard the aspirin trick works well also but I always have peroxide around and we don’t use much aspirin, so I prefer the peroxide.

How strong is that Hydrogenperoxide?
I have seen them sold as 3 and 6%
