Hi everyone, I've enjoyed this forum immensely!

I'm new to autoflower strains. It's been twenty years since my last grow, so I've been excited to learn about AF as well as LED lights and veganic gardening. I’m trying them all at once!

This sexy girl is a Kush van Stitch. She's slmost seven weeks old and began showing abundant pistils at four weeks. As you can see, her internode length is minimal. She also has exclusively three-bladed leaves.

In addition to showing her off, I'm thinking about how to maximize yield from this one plant. As you can see, I just added a SCROG trellis. How and when should I induce flowering? I'm still a little unclear about that for AF strains.

My gardening method is veganic supersoil. She's in a seven-gallon grow bag filled with Ecoscraps potting mix. The bottom half is ammended with five cups of Yum Yum Mix (2-1-1). I used a little seaweed for a nitrogen deficiency (prior to transplanting), and I’m now adding magnesium sulfate to her water for white tips. She’s bottom-watered and under a 180 W Blackstar Chrome light 12 inches from the highest leaves.

I had a difficult time getting past the seedling stage. I eventually went to rock-wool plugs and blocks. (I think that I was over-watering.) This one’s above-ground growth stalled for about a week at her second set of leaves but at that point roots began poking out the bottom of the four-inch block. She had a strong will to live.

I’d like to let her grow as big as I can. Is it possible to extend the vegetative phase or do AF strains begin to flower at a set time after germination? Since Yum Yum Mix is 2-1-1, I’m guessing that eventually I might want to add a fertilizer optimized for flowering. I’d like to continue bottom-watering and use a veganic fertilizer, maybe GO or Pura Vida.

What do you think? I’m open to any suggestions for maximizing yield.

Hello and welcome :) To answer one question autoflower strains flower on there own you

never should have to induce flowering. Here is a link to a page on the life cycle of the

autoflowering cannabis that should help answer any questions you may have

https://www.autoflower.org/f44/life-cycle-auto-flowering-cannabis-5113.html .

AF strains also do not like to be transplanted. Its best to start your seeds in the final pot the

will flower in as with haveing a limited life span they dont like any interuptions the larger the

pot the larger your plant will be (to a point). Over watering is a issue I myself have done it

many times and it decreases size of plant and yeild greatly. Hopes this helps you :)

Welcome to the family, hope you enjoy it here

Welcome to AFNlogo, Prickly! :tiphat:
You would be on the growers super-highway if you started a thread in the new growers forum, friend! A lot of Uber growers keep their eyes open there and give great advice.
Be sure to read the stickies at the top of each forum, they hold a ton of good info.

I'll do that, thanks everyone. I've been lurking for a while, and I've read those posts, but I was a still little confused.

No worries! I myself was a "lurker"! "astros Wink wink.."
