Depends how big your space is and how many plants u want to grow. 250,400,600w are standard for smaller scale growers. And they are not that pricey compared to leds. Puts out more heat tho so you have to plan ahead for that.

CFLs can do a great job if reflectors are used and they're kept close enough. The picture below is a Super Cali Haze grow, at about 100 days. The majority of time I had 14 23w CFLs, mixed spec on the plants. When the colas stretched past the canopy, I added 4 more 23w CFLs for side lighting. The one on the right is called Cleopatra now because she reminds me of Morticia's weed in the Addam's Family. "pher Wiggle"

Like IDS says depends in your growing space and also your airflow. Think removal of hot air to outside the grow space and intake of fresh air from outside for cooling and also vital fresh CO2. Dont' forget a carbon filter to scrub the smell of the plants out of the exhausted air.

Like chsmo says you can do some ok / decent grows using CFL but he used 414 watts of CFL lighting there. Personally I'd probably just grow with a 400 Watt HPS though. CFL are great for veg, don't make as much heat, but HPS can beat CFL for flowering. Still though nice grow chsmo with the cfls.

Thanks, I made some mistakes early on in the LSTing. I would have rather have paid more attention to the colas and bending them over more as they grew would have helped my uneven canopy light distribution, but I'm happy with my 2nd grow. With 414 watts of CFL, a HPS would probably be a wiser move... but with all that comes along with a HPS grow... it just won't work for me. Venting and all is not an option, so CFLs suffice. Just wanted the OP to know that CFLs can get the job done. A little time researching here at AFN can turn a first time grow with CFLs into killer smoke.

What are HAL lamps? Halogen? If so then they're terrible for growing with.

If heat is an issue for you, you maybe better off sticking with CFL or LED. HPS puts out more heat but bang for buck it's the 'cheapest best' light you can get for flowering plants.

You didn't say what size your grow space is. Also did you say before that you can't really exhaust the heat? If so HPS is probably not a good choice. If you can get rid of the heat no problem then go for HPS you won't be disappointed. You just need to figure out what wattage to get, that's worked out by what size your grow room is.

Well the only cfl I found where this one...so I will need to get them on the webwrite??
Please tell me what should I get exactly for my girls!!
my grow is 120x50x50cm

That space to clarify is 120cm wide and 50cm deep and 50 cm tall? Or is it 120cm tall?

I've never grown anything in a space quiet that small before. I grew in a cupboard once and I used a 250watt HPS.

How much does those CFL's cost each?

15€ for lamp
120cm!!
