With soil grows has anyone noticed any difference between 5 gal and 3 gal containers?

All I've ever used is 5 gallon.

Only used 5 gallon as well, but have considered dropping to 3 gallon for my upcoming grow in order to better fill the tent (4x2) with more plants. Definitely interested in hearing what people say.

That's where I'm at with a 3'x3'x7' Gorilla tent.

Started with 3 gal buckets, then 5, then DIY 3 gal pots and a couple 1 gal pots......only real difference I noticed was with the 1 gal pots and that was size and when the soil was about depleted needing nutrients. Best boost I got was with auto pots.....using the 3.9 gal pots and the constant availability of nutrients and water helped a lot.

I'm intrigued with the Auto Pot system.
What substrate do you use?

Does the water/nute reservoir need to stay below a certain temp?

Any good websites or videos explaining how to grow autoflowers with this system?

ON EDIT: This looks good. I didn't realize we have a dedicated section here.

I play around with 5, 7, and 10 gallon pots. I'm in coco though. Definite difference in veg time and yield. I've settled more on 5 gallon now since I'm only running my 4x2 for awhile due to a recent move, and they just take up less floor space. Not sure exactly how it applies to soil as I mostly only grow photos in soil, outside mostly, when I feel the need to do that.

I have a friend that I helped get into autos and floraflex nutes. He recently switched to autopots. 5 gallon pots and coco and on only his second grow ever, he got results that rivaled mine. I get good yields, but I'm too much of a control freak, I think, to use them.

I have been using Fox Farms Happy Frog but seems I finally got a bad bag with too much peat or coco in it so top watering is going to be a pain hence my going back to using it for bottom watering. I just had res outside of tent and it was room temp. (75 - 85). If you have any questions @blue has used the system a lot and answered my questions. One thing I would suggest is getting extra inline valves to isolate each pot so it can be turned off, tray siphoned out and nutrients added either in tray or top watered in to fix any strain specific nutrient deficiencies.
