Hi there,

I have (what I think) is an odd situation with my first grow.

I planted 4 seeds (4 different strains) in coco pots at the beginning of June two didn't pop at all and one sprouted but kind of collapsed when it popped out of the pot. So only one made it.

7 days later I decided to have another go using two seeds of the successful strain.

Both popped.:d5:

Everything has been going well. No real problems.

Obviously the earlier one has been ahead of the other two in terms of growth.
But here's the odd thing...All three have started flowering at the same.

I thought the flowering time was determined by genetics?

The only thing I did slightly different was add some Canna boost shortly before the flowers began to appear. (I'm growing in coco coir)

Could that have triggered the flowering?

Have I got the the "determined by genetics" thing wrong?

I'm not concerned about the plants as they're all big enough and doing well. Just curious as to why they all started flowering simultaneously despite being a week apart in age.

Could be pure luck, could be that the earlier one is slightly longer in terms of growing time therefore it started flowering when the younger maybe less growing timed strains did. Maybe it's pot size, autos tend to flower when roots reach maximum capacity in the pot, when they get root bound etc. Maybe it was the canna boost that kicked them into 5th or should I say 6th gear lol, either way.... Don't be careless and feed all the plants same levels of nutes, as different plants react differently to different levels of feed, autos themselves are often sensitive to feed to keep that in mind also.
I'm not sure if that was any help but it's late, I'm high AF right now and it feels as though my brain is fuelled by knowledge haha

Thanks for that.

That's interesting about the roots. They were all transferred at the same time into 16L smartpots because the roots in all the plants were outgrowing the pots they were in.

One week is not really a lot of time. We are also growing indoor plants that have outdoor genetics. Most autos show sex and preflowers between day 14-21. When you have 3 plants in one tent, they are all competeing with each other for light and the hope of being pollenated. They dont know that they are indoors in a tent or that there arent male plants around. Its not uncommon to have plants that are a week apart harvested at the same time. Its actually helps space when you are running a perpetual grow. I stagger mine by 3 weeks. Because I HATE trimming more than one plant at time. Lol.

What surprised me was the immediacy of the flowering.

It's like as if you flicked the "flower" switch on all three.

The most obvious difference was the addition of the Bloom to the feed.

Literally 12 hours after the bloom feed they all switched.

My best guess is some environmental trigger, that just could be anything or a combination of things that tell the plants, (regardless of a few days here and there) Time to go girls, get your flowering booties on........ready.......steady.......GO

But I could be way off...........
