Hello!

I'm part of several other forums - plants, cacti/succulents, and a couple others in dealing with the plant phytochemistry and phytochemical analysis [moderator on one of them], along with the ethnographic side and usage of many different culturally defined plants. Dabbled off and on in these areas for several years, though still very much a n00b. I'm moving more into the realm of growing plants currently.

I've grow columnar trichocereus cacti for some time, also started germinating/growing lophophora williamsi [peyote] from seed a little less than a couple months back [some of the pics can be seen in my grow journal, which I'll link at the end of this introduction]. I also have a small vegetable garden, along with some [recently planted] perennials I recently picked up for around the back deck that have a high affinity for the butterflies and bees. You can never have too many of our winged insectoid friends. :)

I've been a consistent canna smoker for about 15 years or so, it's something that I've always enjoyed while being outdoors, along with the creative headspace that canna can propel you into, which I love very much, the ladders of the mind run deep. I've read for a number of years on growing canna, though just never really considered it. I have the land/space/means to do so, so I figured 'heck why not!'.

Aside from the plant side of things, I love to read in my down time, and I also train brazilian jiu jitsu locally, which has had a huge impact on my life [both socially and personally] and how I conduct myself and treat others. I mean, I guess 'treating others how you'd want to be treated' should be a given, though some things can really paint that message in stark relief.

I'm sure I left some things out lol. Any questions just ask! Glad to be here! Below is a link to my grow journal I started from several days back. Thanks for having me! :)

welcome!
pssssstttt....
Hey and Welcome!
You sound like a scientist with your pursuits and endeavors! I am glad you found us. Their are a few scientists here as well.
Peace and happy growing.
were all scientists as long as you reflect on life... lmao he sounds like a DR. takes 10 plus years for the coat

Thanks for the replies! Appreciate that

Wish I could say I was a scientist lol, more like a college dropout lol. Just love to learn, definitely addicted there. I owe it to the plants I think, they've saved my life [literally]. I owe it to them hehe.

Yeah, peyote is a beautiful medicine, same goes for the trichocereus sp, and since l. williamsiis can take many years to reach any sort of maturity [5-10 years] I tend to stick with propagating trichocereus peruvianus, trichocereus pachanoi, and trichocereus bridgesii for the sacred medicine [12-24in of growth per season, outdoors], the peyote are more so a hobby and just something I wanted to try my hand at, because the seeds can be a pain to germinate for some. Though a few people I've talked with have grafted peyote to Pereskiopsis stock, allowing that 5-10 year maturity window to be cut down significantly.. like full maturity at say..2 years. I'll probably try that in a few months once these loph seedlings get to reasonable size.

Thanks guys n gals!
