Hello everyone!

I'm planning to convert a small room in my apartment into a grow room. I will obviously have a tent with the usual odour control, carbon filters etc. Now, the room has an air valve (outlet air) in the ceiling that worries me. The air valve cannot be shut closed and I'm worried that once the tent is opened due to maintenance, odour will go through the ventilation and eventually in to my neighbours apt..
The room is pretty small and can be closed with a door. I can't just cover the valve, I think it'll cause problem and might catch landlords attention..

Any advice?

Sorry for any misspels, english is not my first language

Thanks in advance
:smoking:

You could use something like ona gel close to this vent.

Is the vent sucking air? If it is blowing air in, there is no air contamination problem.

Presuming there are other vents attached to that vent system, which is almost certain, there should be no problem blocking one vent. More air will be sucked from or pushed out somewhere else.

Thanks, I've thought about this. Sounds nice, but it still worries me that odour will escape and reach my neighbours. I will still use these gels tho, thanks for the reminder!

Thanks for your answer.

It is sucking air, I put a piece of paper under it and it got sucked into the vent..

I've got a total of three vents in my apt, two is sucking air (one in the bathroom and the other in the small room), and one is blowing air. I suppose you're right. I remember having read that blocking a vent might cause ventilation problem in the whole building (something about pressure), therefore my concern. I'll try to find the source again to re-read it. Gotta get it done right

Does it screw into place? If so you could maybe rig a close dryer air outlet to it and put a carbon filter on it...

If it's in your budget, you might consider purchasing an air purifier for the room. I have three but only one is dedicated for harvests. If you crack just one window it works great. The more windows you have open, the longer it takes to work.

They sell any size filter with activated carbon. You could buy one to fit.

From my twenty years of experience in construction I would say there is no chance of odour contamination to your neighbours. All exhaust air is exhausted from each individual apartment. The vent may be in the ceiling but it is against fire regulations to have any penetrations between floors of a building. Therefore it is just part of the make up fresh air system for you me particular unit. (I grow and smoke herb in a condo and have never had any issue about smell from my upstairs neighbour)

^^ Listen to the man, he speaks the truth^^

If the you are still worried, maybe cover the vent with a charcoal fish filter. Just tape it over the vet. That would allow air flow and give you piece of mind with the carbon filter in place.
