hi guys, I've noticed today that the runoff from my sour diesel auto was smelling slightly off. after doing some research Im thinking it could be early stages of root rot.
The plant looks healthy on top with no sigh of deficiencies.
I looked underneath the pot and seen a few roots poking through the drainage holes with slight browning on some of the tips. Most look really nice white/cream colour.

I'm growing in a coco perlite mix, using canna nutrients and I'm in early stages of flower.
started using canna boost just over a week ago don't know if that has anything to do with it.

What is the best way to tackle this?
from what I've read if I use h2o2 I will kill off the nasty bacteria but also the beneficial bacteria too. I've also read that repotting with fresh coco is a good idea but don't really want to do that unless as a last resort as I don't want to stunt her.

Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks afn clan :worship:

Hi There :D

I've done a few coco grows with canna nutes (and boost)

I'm growing in a coco perlite mix, using canna nutrients and I'm in early stages of flower.
started using canna boost just over a week ago don't know if that has anything to do with it.

If it's a swampy type smell with a hint of treacle (molasses) then it's probably the boost! Give the bottle a sniff and that will most likely be the issue.

I've never used H202 and wouldn't unless you're sure there's a big problem.
If you've already started using boost then you're into flowering, i wouldn't transplant either - sounds risky!!

If you're not running autopots .. (& if you haven't already) try to raise your pots from the ground (in a tray) to stop them from sitting in run off water.

This could help too! :D

I just bought some hydroguard for DWC. It is to combat organics residues in the reservoirs and on root surfaces. The main source of pest bacterial colonies. I havn't thought as much on how it works in soils or coco, but I would imagine much the same, but it would continue to break down other organics in your soil as well.

... what kind of off smell? rotten, sulfur-like,... fungal, mildew funk,... how flat/flush are the pot bottoms with the saucers? Anaerobic stank (rotten eggy) is like no other, I have a couple houseplants that did this; soon as I raised the bottoms off the sauces some, it went away,....

Thank you all for your replies :smokeout:

my pots are flat in the saucers, I need to find a way to raise them up slightly.

On a good note I can't smell it anymore, it was a eggy sulphur smell. I stoped with the boost for now and just gave it cal mag, a + b, cannazym, and rhizoctonic.

She looks healthy, and buds are growing bigger by the day.:greenthumb:
So I've got cannaboost, pk 13/14 and bloombastic to implement at some point, I was using the boost but I stoped that after the eggy smell. I will reintroduce next feed at a lower dose I think.

My plan is either use the pk 13/14 first and then introduce the bloombastic after the 7-10 day window (cannaboost included), or just stick with the bloombastic and canna boost all way through flower. She's 52 days old, along with my green crack auto which is a lot bigger. I'll get some pics of her in a min.

Here is my other sexy lady :dancer:

Unfortunately I noticed some discolouration in a few leaves and a few buds while I was taking the pics, is that a deficiency or nute burn? :wall:
She's been doing really well and drinks a lot, I gave her 3L yesterday morning 8am, by 7pm the pot was light so I gave her another 2L of feed. Her pot was feeling light again by 8am this morn!
Ppm of my feed is 950 ppm.

..can't tell in that light! get us normal light pics please,....

Sorry for taking ages to reply, here's some pics taken in normal lighting.

She had a flush after my previous post, I gave her too strong a feed, about 1200 ppm, no wonder she burned! :face: It's my first grow, I was expecting to make a few mistakes

Since then she hasn't shown any more burn on the buds or leaves, but hopefully you can see the area's affected in the pics.
I have a few more questions but I'll post them in the appropriate thread

:growing:
