Hi guys! So I am planning a SOG, but have no idea what I am doing. I would like for you to post your ideas on the ideal SOG setup; from strain to pot size (details, please!). I mean for this thread to be more of a conceptual kind of thread, so if think you have a good idea, by all means; blast away!

Just post what you would vision your ideal SOG setup to be like, but please try and keep it realistic/practical. Like a SOG setup for a tent, not a massive commercial grow, lol.

-realistic/practical
-detailed
-Autoflower specific... If possible (if your a photo guy, feel free to post away too. I'm primarily interested in auto SOGing, but I'm sure others may find it useful.)

I'm dishing out mad +rep points for this one, so chime-in!

My instinctual thought is to run 8 '+speed's, tall 2 .2 gallon pots (as tall and skinny as I can find) and go 24/0, 20/4 under 300w's of LED. Popping one, once a week. It's a 7 week strain (I've harvested in 6 weeks under 24/0 with good results) and I like the high. I run them for about 7-7.5 weeks each and just keep it goin. This should give me about an ounce a week and my friends will never have to spend money on bud again. (I'm the only dude I know who gives his herb away for free, lol).

Anything I'm overlooking? Anything you guys think could be added to make this setup better?

In WA medical grows are allowed 15 plants and another 15 if you are a designated caregiver. So my ideal SOG would be 30 plant set up. I'd start with a 4x8 tent and 2 600w hps cool tubes and 6" inline fan. That gives you about 1 ft squared for each plant. I would go with #2 nursery pots which are about 1.5 US gallons capacity. Then it's time to pick your strain. There are so many great auto strains out there now. Just pick something that fits what you want out of a strain. I've been chomping at the bit to get some kush van stitch going. But if I was doing 30 I'd go with a company that sells 10/12 packs of feminized seeds. So maybe afghan or Pakistan kush Ryder, white widow auto from dinefem, or super skunk auto from white label ( recent auto cup winner). Now you have got your room, containers and seeds. It's time to pick your medium, there are plenty of options, but I'd do with a nice inexpensive soilless medium. Pro mix HP should do the trick. As far a nutes go there are so many it can be really confusing. I'd just grab a complete system instead of trying to mix and match. Fox farm trio is giving good results and the general organics is cheap ($50) and has every thing you need. Don't forget your ph meter or solution. Also, I highly suggest using an aquarium pump and air stone to bubble you h2o for 24 hour prior to using. The roots love the extra o2 in the water. And there you go in a couple months you should have somewhere between 2 and 4 lbs or more depending on a few variables.

Oh a couple things I left out. It's the General Organics Go Box you be wanting. Don't forget to enter promo code 420 when shopping Attitude for %10 off your order. Also, Pro Mix comes in compressed bails so remember that when you are purchasing. One 3.8 cubic ft bail will break up into more like 7 cubic ft. Which is more than enough.

Yea! I have noticed the same thing, I always do a lot better with the more inexpensive or "cheap" potting soils from walmart or something. Never have any big problems, either.

You are most helpful, sir! I wish I could give you a second +rep!

Well, I've used a few different brands of soil. Have had good results with all of them. My favorite for autos is actually roots organic pitting soil. It's made in Oregon so it's cheap in the NW. It's somewhat "hot" meaning it usually has enough charge to get me to sexing without nutes. However, if you are gonna buy a complete nute pack you may as well save a little money in your soil. Pro Mix HP is A soilless mix which mean you will need to start adding nutes after a week or so. Pro Mix is also easily available across the country as its sold at lowes. Sunshine Mix #4 is a little better soilless mix still cheap but harder to find. For photo strains I like happy frog amended with earth worm casting, humus, and roots oregonism

Ah! Thanks for the info! I'm using roots organics right now, but it came with thrips :\
I have notice the population basically dwindle away, tho, as the plant gets older. I don't see any visible damage, anymore. That is something else I notice a lot; as my gurls get older, they become more pest resistant, till a point that they actually kill bugs! I think it's the THC.

Haha yeah used to fungus gnats now it's thrips. It's never been bad enough for me to not use it again.
