Indoor Soil going bad?

So yesterday when mixing some happy frog and ocean forest together my girl came in and said the soil smelled bad. I couldn't really tell so I mixed it together anyway and sowed some seeds into it.

Now that I actually smell the pot with the soil in it, it smells like damp moist dirt not really fresh soil.. I smelled the happy frog bag and it smells fine so I'm guessing that the ocean forest is what's making it smell like damp dirt.

Is that a sure sign the soil is bad? What negative effects should I expect if any? I already sowed the seeds into it last night so I'm worried

I wouldn't worry. It's probably just the organic ingredients you are smelling.

Yeah, no damp soil... no germinating seeds... no medicine.
