New Grower Soil Tea?

Has anyone simply taken a pre maid medium...take for instance the Fox Farm soil.. since it has organic nutes in it already..and rather buy a bunch of fertz, simply soak a gallon pot worth of same soil from bag in a 5 gal bucket of PH'd water for 24 hrs, strain and usethat water once weekly to water plants?
