ok I saw the contest on here about solo cup growing. I saw a bunch of small but nice plants. How do you grow in just a solo cup wouldn’t the roots take up like the whole cup and wouldn’t you have to water like twice a day? I’m still pretty new. I have a bunch of bag seeds I would like to try and grow but don’t wanna waste a lot of space and time on them and if I could get them all to grow in solo cups that would be awesome. So far I’ve only had luck with hydro growing and want to learn soil. Any and all info would be very welcome.

It does get very needy. I had to end up watering my plant 2 or even 3 times a day. Literally every day
If I missed a day the soil would be gone dry. It's going to be tough. Make sure to add plenty of vermiculite to retain some moisture in the soil

I thought as much but do you feed it full strength? How do you keep the plant held up? Do you put a drain whole in the cup? I’m looking to day a soil short time frame grow so if anyone has a journal of something like this that would be awesome

Use a larger pot with strains that are known to be small in stature...check out my grows in the dragon meds category.

Yes I was trying to figure out how to do solo cup just in case I wanna do the next contest. Also it’s bag seed so idk what type of strain they are I just know they are photo not auto. I was just looking to do as short of a grow as posssable in soil with them just to get the hang of small plant growing. But I’ll check out your thread ether way

When I did mine for the solo cup grow I put four 1/8" holes on the outer bottom edge for drainage. I had the cup sitting in a drain off disk but as it got bigger it got top heavy. I placed the solo cup in a 1/2 gallon potato/macaroni salad container and used a chopstick lightly tied to the lower stem. I then wired the chopstick to the potato/macaroni salad container to stabilize the solo cup. After the first 20 days of top watering I just ended up filling the potato/macaroni salad container with nute solution for bottom feeding.

Ok a few questions if you don’t mind. One how often did you have to water? Did you start it on a 12/12 cycle right away? How long did it take to finish? Thank you for all the info

At first I saturated the cup and after sprout at day 3 I started feeding about 8oz every other day for a week, just make sure your cup doesn't dry out. At around day 20 is when I just started putting in almost a liter in the container and just letting it bottom feed seemed to work ok for me. My grow was with an auto so I was on a 18/6 light schedule. If yours are a photo you could do an 18/6 light schedule for a few weeks and then flip to a 12/12 schedule.

How long from sprout to harvest this way?

If I remember think my auto went just over 70 days. I could've probably chopped little sooner. It's kinda hard to give an actual time frame as each strain is different and everyone has different setup environments.
