Some unusual leaf markings...

Not worried... just thought I'd ask.

Some unusual leaf "markings" on a DWC strain-unknown bagseed grow. Any ideas?





Not sure if this is heat, nutes, or just a weird plant. Miz Dubya is a bit on the genetically handicapped side...
Appears "knobby" or "blistered". Leaf has a light veining.

GH nutes @ Lucas ratios running 1/2 strength.
395 ppm 7.2 pH @ tap

Me too. She's had twisted and odd leaves since cracking. Only one of nine to come up. Very slow starter. Personally thought the seeds were immature in the first place.

You are probably right about the immature seeds Fish. Considering one in nine.

The rest though, doesn't look like genetic mutation to me. The interveinal problems looks like the beginning of mag deficiency. The other leaves looks like you have some problems going on as well, possibly due to ph but honestly I am not too sure. Your tap water looks like crap, 395 is high, real high. That could be some of your problems. Let me have a buddy drop in on this one and give a recommendation. He runs DWC more than myself and may be able to help out.

Hey Old Dude,

I read this thing about growing grape seeds, they need significant referidgerator time to mature, like two months. I have heard cannabis is the same way. Not suggesting an Old Dude's mind is slippin' or anything like that, but maybe it is something easy to fix like that.

Unless your seeds are visually immature, then forget all the above, heh heh.

Nope weren't it, Eke! LOL! (AKA Fat Freddie's cat) They sat in the fridge for a few weeks before getting the dunk. Honestly, I've never HAD to fridge 'em prior to, but then again, guess where the stash was kept? RIGHT! Right next to the ice trays.

It's possible that the inter-venal problems was a near miss fert burn and early pH issues, but the "blistering" on the leaves (looks like tiny warts) is what made me think genetics were also to blame. Over the last 3 days, she's gone completely bonkers, growing like mad. The 395 ppm tap is because I'm on a highly calcified well. The pH kept changing daily early on but now has stabilized quite a bit. A couple of points a day instead of five.

73 DEG 35%
pH 5.9 1230 ppm


Notice the serrations starting to claw upwards. Could the light be too close for the RH?

Posted in your thread, but didn't see that your tap water was that high. That's some really hard water to be growing with. Might wanna look into a RO system. Too much cal will lock out other stuff. I still think you have touch of nuts burn from the looks of the leaves, try dropping down to around 800 ppm total.

I had major problems with tap water at 265 PPM, heavy in calcium and iron. Used RO water and had much better results.

Another tip is to check the PPM in reservoir everyday. If the numbers go up, you are feeding too much, if it drops a lot, you need to feed more.

Is it a hand watered flood and drain???

Yeah, all the numbers jive with the calculator, which puts me in the area of 735 ppm nutes (probably less), 395 tap water, about 100 ppm (or more) after treatment with zone and the silica from the growrocks under the hydroton. Re: lockout - possibly, root growth really sucks. I know this is a 10" pot, but wish I could see at least one to let me know things are progressing properly. I don't want to go digging (MORE silica! I hate grow rocks.).

Next res will be filtered water (this weekend) from the store. Re: ppm: I check twice a day and everything is stable. She got half nutes one time, with this res. That was an anomalous reading (I hope) that has not been repeated so far.
