Hi Everyone,

Are these little white spots spider mite damage ? This is a photo seedling about 4 weeks. I've never had them before.
thanks

OK thanks guys, these are outdoors. had a couple of unseasonably very warm / hot days along with cool nights and a lot of dew in the am. I never water or foliar feed in the sunlight, but I am thinking from what you guys said it would be alot of dew on the plants in the am then hit with a very strong sun from early am ?

For peace of mind watch for signs of fine webbing on the undersides of leaves or across leaf axils, combined with dark specks on the undersides of the leaves (that move). I've never heard of spidermites doing much damage outdoors due to natural competition and predators but I hate the little bastards with a passion (cost me lots when I was a playa). I won't say don't worry after your streak of luck so far but outdoors pot always has more blemishes, breaks and bite marks that are harder to control than indoor.

I read somewhere that spider mite damage is little white spots. I had a look with the loupe no web or mites to be seen. Saw a few predators, maybe they cleaned them up quickly ? These are on 4 photo seedlings, there is 18 autos nearby that don't have these spots but they get more shade from the afternoon sun, so...

hey Vas! :pass:... no mites cause spots like that,... they start invasions on the undersides first, and the damage looks like a very fine silvery stippling, caused by zillions of micro-punctures from their damn filthy sucking parts! Very obvious and tell-tale, especially with a magnifier,... Those spots do look much like fine lensing burn caused by the sun (nice call guys- :d5:),.... I think I see the dead zone is sunken in, right? Other possibilities include thrips ( typical of them to dine-and-shine, so may not be at the scene of the crime later!), but they usually don't cause the depressed spots, and look more patchy,... (look up the damage symptoms online for both vermins, and you'll see what I mean),.. and being OD's, you may have other larger vermin attack and leave as well, larger than thrips (typically very small, but not mite- small),.... but my first bet is on lensing burn,... nothing to do there, if it dew! no biggie,...just watch for further signs, to be sure it ain't vermins! :pimp::pimphand: ....

This could be the beginning of cal mag def, keep an eye on it. Do you give them any cal mag ?
It also could be the ph issue, but my bet would be on cal mag.
The light green color of leaves and yellow spots on them .....

Can you post more pictures .... Is only one leave affected of the whole plant ? Is it happening on top or bottom leaves ?
How fast did it progress ?

hey Waira, thanks for havin a look man...i get the feeling you and the other guys are right about the lens burn. The white spots are pretty much only on the middle leaves. Pretty blessed to have a good bug balance here most of the time, lots of preds around, seen heaps more ladybugs in the last week. Pio, yes i feed all my plants a Cal/mag sup. Thanks guys and thanks Gringo, Aurora & arcJ
