letters aged a month or more
the written word unread for sure
and never more oft spoke the bird
whose meaning wasn't understood

I've cited oft as well I should
the perfect cure was well ignored
in favor of favored dischord
a light tonight for bad or good

a smoke a smoke some heat indeed
whose presence wasn't without need
it roared and would soon spell its name
a simple act infinite gain

or loss could be the case resolved
forgetting all important facts
a guard let down error involved
the secret spoke to break the pact

so keep it close sir hold your cards
stay the course and bon voyage
if all goes well you'll greet the bard
a smile warping his visage

Thanks guys. I liked the interaction between some of those verses. Just for you guys, the light and smoke part is about pot. I thought you'd appreciate knowing that. Kind of like me saying to myself it's exactly what I need sometimes, not always, but if I maintain a healthy relationship with the plant I can achieve anything. Pretty sure shakespeare and poe got high so yeah, I kind of wrote it with them in mind.

Nice one Jim. (lol endings can be difficult... but you pulled it off)

That had a good rhythm to it. Reminded me of immortal techniques flow, ricocheting off loosely related topics while keeping a semi consistent meter and central theme. Spot on man, I dig.
