I keep coming across conflicting information about the potency of autoflower strains. The first-generation strains were said to be of inferior potency. Newer strains are supposedly testing at respectable THC levels. How is a savvy seed shopper supposed to know the difference?

Would love to see a short list of what are widely considered to be the most potent of the modern auto strains (THC 15%+). Links are fine. Pointing me in the direction of the search function is also fine. :) But just curious, in case this hasn't come up in one place before.

Check out the Strain reviews/Smoke reports section...
The thc levels may not be mentioned but the potency will..."AFN smoke out"

:cuss:Wehad a thread on the most potent autos now I can't find the fucker.

Cool, thanks. Ordinarily I'm a numbers guy and would prefer to go by the raw data. But in the case of home cannabis growing, there's just so much noise and variance in the growing conditions that it's almost impossible to arrive at reliable numbers. (I'm also aware that THC isn't the be-all, end-all of important chemicals in cannabis. Other cannabinoids and terpenes play a huge role).

In that sense, I'm inclined to pay attention to smoke reports and reviews more than putative THC numbers. Reviews may be subjective, and they may be subject to confirmation bias. But they're drawn from real experience, not from the labs of super-breeders in optimal conditions. Real reviewers' results are much more likely to reflect mine.

Even still, seeing some average numbers wouldn't hurt. Assuming my THC levels will come in much lower than lab-grown optimums, I'd at least like to grow plants that are known for their high THC counts. If I grow a 20%er, it'll probably come in around 5-10% in my suboptimal, outdoor setup. If I grow a 10%er, I'll get even lower results. At least that's my theory, and it's the reason why I would still consider the numbers to be an important data point.
